I've been told that I'm a princess,
That it's been fated since my birth.
I live inside a shining palace,
Yet I wonder of it's worth.
I wear no diamond tiara,
Nor a gown of flowing gold.
Tears and blood cover my hands
As this quarrel tears my soul.

Where's my knight in shining armor?
Where's my angel way up high?
Where's my guardian to help me?
Where's my friend to walk me by?

I don't run away from danger
With my eyes wide with fright,
Worrying more about my hair
Then the loss of precious lives.
Instead I raise my hand up high,
With vengeance heavy in my mind,
Not caring if my locks are sodden,
Not even caring if I die.

Where's my knight in shining armor?
Where's my angel way up high?
Where's my guardian to help me?
Where's my friend to walk me by?
All is lost because of battle.
All this for one precious stone.
I'd rather this world filled with evil
Then to face the dark alone.

Now I have just one last chance,
This crystal heavy on my brow.
Just one more time to make amends,
But who will help me fight this now?
It sneers down upon the land,
Killing all that bars it's way.
Nothing in this world will live
If someone doesn't stand today.

Where's my knight in shining armor?
Where's my angel way up high?
Where's my guardian to help me?
Where's my friend to walk me by?

I can't just sit back and do nothing
While Chaos reaps upon our lives
While every memory and sanity
Is forced to bow and die.
Grave as cursed midnight crumbles,
I'll stand amidst the ruins tall,
Feel your presence right beside me,
Embrace the victory for all,
Bathe in warmth that surrounds me,
Hold your memory in hand.
And when the darkness melts away,
Your light will lead me back.

~I wrote this in middle school, and I want to get this ready to be put in a compilation to send off to publishing companies in hopes of getting lucky...You've inspired me +Steven!! happy.gif Anyway, please feel free to tear this into pieces. I just don't know if this is the draft I want to send...It may be....But I'm pretty indecisive. Thank you!

Ha ha. Aww, you guys have no idea how much positive feedback means to me. Being judged by one's peers is the second worst hurdle a writer has to climb....And then there's the worst critic....myself. happy.gif Thank you, D!

Hey, I want in on this too!

I agree with Silke: you ARE very good, and you CAN (and should) be confident about your work.

As an example of what a loon I am, and to give you a smile--I hope--have a look at my latest sonnet, #676, "USS John C. Stennis CVN-74." I hope you enjoy it. I love to visit enormous ships when they come into port; I love to take the tours and ring the beautiful brass bells which they all still have. I wanted to be a sailor, once, and my Grandpa worked for the Eleventh Naval District, USN.

Be encouraged! You're a wonderful poet, and not silly like I am sometimes!

Thank you, Steven! Your comments are much appreciated.
~Heh heh....I wrote this kinda a long time after the fact, huh? Well, I've taken a leave of sorts, organizing myself before the big move to COLLEGE!! Ha ha. I's been stressful, and my muse hasn't visited me much lately, but I have a few that I'm going to post soon....As soon as I can get my own computer hooked up to the 'net.....Just thought I'd let everyone know what's going on! Though I'm sure most of you think I'm crazy and don't care. Haha. Excellent....happy.gif

to ''expand'" your writings try to write about something other then darkness or knights in shinning armor. it all depends on the type of readers youre writing to. this web site promotes alot of mind intelligence theories and questioning but the poetry section seems to be set at Stevens pace, love and wonder tyoe poems, which are nice but its good to separate your writing skills from love types to different types, it helps- in all aspects of your writings. I started off with love/hurt poems at first and now Im totally out of that, its all about change baby bird.

nice work.

Thank you, anonymust. happy.gif I'm pretty sure I've expanded since I've written this poem...At least I hope....It has been five years....:$.....Ha ha....Anyway, I will take your comments to heart. Thank you for taking the time to critique! happy.gif
