On the bottom of the sea
(It's all about metaphores...)

~I stumbled on your breath
And landed on a cloud above me
And my fear of heights
Kept my climbing to stay free

I climb so high I drowned
There on the bottom of the sea
I ran to you as fast I could
So rapid that all I did was flee

I drank so much I died of thirst
Because suddenly I couldn't find more
And now I keep wondering
Why you didn't tell me this before;

Everything comes abruptly to an end....

Hi MausiMutti!

This image is multifoliate (one of my most favorite T. S. Eliot words!) in that it suggests both the bottom of the sea and outer space at the same time, as well as every other image summoned up by your poem. You really are an effective artist, especially due to the fact that you do not "think" while you are creating, which is to say that you allow creation to unfold unimpeded by the ghosts of the superego and of "Christmases past," as I have been thinking of them today, those cruel voices which always judge and mock and limit and prevent us everywhere.

You are a wonderful artist and a wonderful person. You create beauty and joy, you bring light and hope, while fighting for your very life under the most extreme circumstances our members and our guests here could ever imagine; most never have to fight for their life as you have, not even for a day, not even on the final day, whereas you have been engaged in a life and death struggle for almost as long as I have known and loved you. You are my hero. And you will be victorious; you WILL defeat death and get well and live, and live with me.

We will have a wonderful time, you and me, and I will cover you with kisses a thousand times a day. We might not get much writing done... But then again I will have my muse in my arms; it will be a golden time, that I can see, as Dr. Becker used to say, "all the way from Bixby Knolls."

Thank you, with all my heart, for loving me and for taking my name; it shall be no longer mine but ours. I love you, and I send you
