Upon a moon bent night
We talked on the way to
The shore that wouldn’t wave
I kept track of the time
You danced in front of me

I wish I knew
How you danced like that
I should have asked
But I couldn’t
Think of any words
My tongue was tied
Behind my ears
The sand seeped
Up through my toes

And down
From the sky it came
You had kicked it around the moon
I didn’t see you dance
I watched the satellite

I’d look at your face
You looked at mine
I didn’t use words
And that’s when I spoke
The language I know

Nothing seems
To be alright
We try to lie
And as the music plays

My tears will come
You might know
A little
I wish I knew
How to give you a clue
While the universe tilts
And you’ve become an object

I don’t want to walk you
Down the sidewalk
Through the chain link fence
Up the white steps
To your door
And know
I’m saying goodbye

Very nice. I like how you wove feelings of distant regret in with awe. It makes it hum with humanity.
