Transcendental Sonnet #451:
For Silke on Chemo V

If there were any meaning it would be
Found within the ribs of the one I love
Within the pure and loving breast of she
For whom I pray of whom I think and of
Whom I dream whether waking or sleeping

For whom I this lonely night-watch keeping
Await with weeping as she fights for life
Silke my chosen one Silke my own
The one whom I would take to be my wife
She is the meaning she and she alone

Snuggle down now Silke and go to sleep
While I keep night-watch for you while I weep
Though it seems always midnight dark and deep
I see in your eyes the sun will soon rise
