Transcendental Sonnet #450:
For Silke on Chemo IV

I feel so helpless yet I know I'm not
I can still love you and I can still pray
I've got to do my best with what I've got

I can write sonnets for you I can say
That somebody loves you loves you so much
If love can help you Silke and can heal
If love can soothe your pain if love can touch
Your heart if love can bless if love can seal
You with a kiss against all this then you
Will get all well because my love is real
My love for you is strong and it is true

How sick you are tonight and how sad am I
That such youth such beauty should be tortured so
Silke I ask why but I will never know
