Transcendental Sonnet #437:
Unfolding

First tender blossom on an apricot tree
Which I planted with my own hands long ago
Speaks life speaks hope and speaks a promise to me
That I need not fear that which I do not know
Seeing this sweet blossom makes me realize
Often what is needful is a good surprise

This unexpected harbinger reminds me
That sometimes things work out better than I fear
Through cold and cloud this brazen blossom finds me
Hoping that a brighter future might be near

One blossom but a thousand buds stand ready
To make the future happen to force the spring
I watch and wait while nature makes her steady
March unfolding buds and me and everything

Thank you, Silkchen Mausilein; it's a true story (all my sonnets are); after several days of rain, and between storms, I ventured outside to find the very first blossom of the spring on the apricot tree I planted when I was a kid. It's beautiful, and it gives me hope.
