Jatava
Hey Gang,   smile.gif

Just passing through and saw what a nice board ya had here and thought I'd drop in.  Nice site, nice group, and good folks.  Thanks.

My name is J.K. ( http://spider-food.net ) though my screen name is Jatava, and I guess breaking that name down can kinda tell you about me.

Jataka = kinda sounds like Jataka
a  t  a  = forms a crucifix
JavaShark = screen name form long time ago

I'm also a webmaster and like many folks who go into that profession one of the first things I played with was Java. (just little applets and stuff)

Anyway, if you put them all together you get Jatava.  And Sekon is an indian word that means "hello."

Let's see.. what else? hmmm

I'm dead!!  LOL   ;D

That always gets a hoot.  I'm also a friend of Bill W (very thankfully now and just kind of wondering how much better it can get).  And as I kind of eluded to before I'm both Buddhist and Christian but when I say Christian I'm not referring to what I call Churchanity.  (just hope that did not offend anyone for me to say that).

Anyway - I'm 40 years old, single but enchanted with a sweetheart from Sweden, and I guess I'm just really glad to be alive these days.  I also love finding folks who have interests similar to mine and that seems to fit in perfectly here, so that's why I registered.

So, nice to meet ya.  And simply because I posted this another day in a forum where we were asked to do so I'll paste a little more here about me for anyone who would like to know.

Cheers!

Anyway - here are a few of my favorite things.

Don't laugh.    wink.gif

Going barefoot during the day, getting dressed up in the evening, eating at Donitello's, and then going to Phantom of the Opera at night.

Spending the rest of my time in shorts, sweats or jeans.

Looking through different lenses, the smell of the air after it rains, slow Sunday mornings, the sight of a woman in a man's shirt, having my hair pulled, the rising of the spirit!,..aH!  .. being calm, being held and holding.

The sinking feeling I get on my motorcycle while banking a turn in the mountains, the sound of my breath when I scuba dive, spearfishing, mermaids, dolphins, believing in Eve, and jumping out of airplanes.

Hazardous weather conditions, billowy clouds, and sunshine.

Fire and Lightening.  Sex.

Eating Crawfish Etouffee at Christmas, a perfectly cooked steak, having friends over on weekends,  those quiet talks with my sponsor, wondering what lies behind a child's eyes when they look with wonder, and remembering the things my Papaw taught me.

Goin' Snipe Huntin.'   ;D

Glow in the dark stars, pop rock candy, klackers, and my 8 Ball.

The sight of a football coming at ya' in the air, catching it, paradox, the origin of my origin, philosophy, religion, and poetry.  The memory of childhood dreams where I could fly.  Working out on my Stairmaster, listening to music, getting higher, catching my second wind.  Projecting, cooling down, and then taking a shower.  ..Epiphany.

HA!

Waking early enough to see day break across the lake. Fresh brewed coffee with real cream.  Building my library.  Pretending I've read all these books.   wink.gif  ( lol ) Internet shopping.  And those "smoke a cigar" moments when you know you just went through something very difficult and complex but came out on top anyway.

Abstract thought.  Being the underdog.  "Playing chess."

The power of the myth, watching the Discovery Channel on HDTV,  quiet times on the couch with someone I love.  Fast cars, fast thinking, deep conversations, and deep base that thumps.

My Dharma Bum and Zen Lunatic friends.   ;D    lol

Building websites, creating my own graphics, writing, and playing with Java.

Listening to classical piano but only if it's live.  Playing guitar.  Now trying to learn banjo.

The working man, the mother, the preacher, the scholar, all my friends at the Nook, my psychiatrist, Sheer Will, and anyone else who can teach me.

'Me Mum" for just being able to hang in there among all my messes.  And "me" - for knowing I can get my own self out of the briar patch if I need to and then doin' it if I want.

Then turnin' around and goin' back in cause I'm a stinker.   wink.gif

The moment you first realize it's really Spring because you look up and see that the sky is vibrantly blue again.  Those lazy days of Summer.  Floating the river.  Sand on my feet.  Making love after a swim in the pool.  Watermelon.  Ice cream and blueberry milk shakes with a cherry on top.

My dog, Digit. <smile>  My pick up truck <check out them' tires -  >  Scuba gear.  Totally torked computer equipment.  My Roidan's Thinker - my Meditating Jesus.  My altar - my Buddha, the Serenity Prayer, the Three Wise Monkeys, my table water fountain,  my 24 Hour chip,  "Digging In The Dirt,"  the Southern Journal of Philosophy, my Padre Pio rosary, a Qbeam - making friends on the Internet - Dreamweaver,  the way I make my living (authoprenuer / webmaster).  The painting that 'is' my avatar right now.  And being different.

Southern by the grace of God, laughing at myself until it hurts, being proud of our country, watching my stepfather hug my mother and remembering this wasn't free, Kid Rock, Toby Keith, and Chris Cagle.  Roll over Beethoven.

William Blake, Stephen Crane, and Rumi.  -  Steve Hawking and Scott Peck...  Carl Jung, Peter Gabriel, the Talking Heads, and Steve Vai - Crossroads.  (John Leguizamo & Stephen Wright)

Those two little whirlpools that you make everytime you put a boat paddle in the water.  Watching what happens to them as they glide - as if they were two spirits trying to come together - then watching what happens to them.  ...

You can learn a lot watching a boat paddle...

Then realizing that despite all of his 'goodness' the white knight is not qualified to ride the white horse. Also realizing that the dragon is not the enemy.  The black knight is.  And the enemy lives inside us.

It took me a long time to really get wrapped around that, but I think I did and I like it.

And lastly - HA!

Riding Bulls..

I know that can be a confusing metaphor, possibly because I've also joked about it a little bit. But it means something positive - at least to me.  As Toby Keith puts it, "Give me Hell below, but give me strength on top."  To which I would also add, "Give me grace and let me love."

Life is still about the fire and lightening folks.

Hi Jatava,

Welcome to Mind-Brain!

I believe your welcome post is the most extensive, illuminating and interesting post I have seen this board!

Congratulations.
You find so many things which you have identified as being important in your life, and you mirror my own realisation that so often, it is the simple things that have greatest value for some people.

From your bio, I suspect that you will contribute [and I hope take] from several boards here.
You will find [if not already] a friendly atmosphere, should make friends easily, and can hopefully help some of those seeking comfort.

I do hope you enjoy yourself with us and look forward to future correspondence.

If you have any problems, just post a query and someone, or more, will be there to help you!

Best regards, Bill.

Thank you very much, rhymer.   I'll take that as a compliment.  But as you can probably tell my Haiku is lacking.     wink.gif

Avalon
I've learned more about you from reading the list of what you like more than I thought I would. It was an interesting, beautiful list and it inspired me to make one of my own, but I doubt mine will have as much of an emotional and artistic calibur as yours did. I like the smell of the air after it rains as well, there's something about water that makes anything beautiful. And there is something about hazardous weather conditions that make one excited and dreamy, I know that feeling. That was a pleasure to read, I'm glad I've joined this forum already. smile.gif

Thanks for sharing the interesting details Javata, I enjoyed reading your introduction very much,

I'll be anticipating more of you on your posts

Love your spirit,
