what makes you think i won't forget
your simple words and empty threats
doesn't quite work anymore
i'm older now, and out the door
should've listened when i said
i hate it here, i'd rather be dead
now you won't see me anymore
i'm not the kid i was before
out of sight, now you can't reach me
there's nothin left for you to teach me
should've listened when i said
i hate it here, i'd rather be dead
you never even tried
to make our house a happy home
i'd sit alone at night
almost always left alone
now i'm takin off
and you decide to care
why are you surprised to learn
that i don't know that you're there?

I love the repeat of:
"should've listened when i said
i hate it here, i'd rather be dead"
Not sure about:
"i'd sit alone at night
almost always left alone"
Maybe something like:
"I'd sit at night, in silence,
Almost always, on my alone"
I don't know, like I said I'm not very good at critique... I just dont think it sounds right.
Okay when reading the poem it seems like you're talking to this poem, parent by any chance?
"why are you surprised to learn
that i don't know that you're there?"
So this bit doesn't make perfect sense... what about:
"Why are you suprised to learn,
I didn't see you there?"
Anyway hope I didn't say anything wrong.

What's really funny is when you can't take any more nonsense and confront them with their own- THEN they think somethings unfair, 'Hey,.. that's not right' THEN they think something is wrong, but it takes them a while until they realize it was their mistake... in the end you're responsible for your own state of being but a parents (or friends, or partners) ignorance can leave anyone speechless. Then you experience an incredible surge to leave the house
