Transcendental Sonnet #354:
My Long Nose Into the Bells
(Rose Parade Weather)

The sky is bright and sparkling clear today
Huge ravens are calling to each other
Warm wind has scared the skittish clouds away
I don't even feel that I need bother
With my terribly eccentric green coat
On this most unseasonable morning

I would have to be a grumpy grey goat
To not appreciate this day scorning
All of this sunshine as I hang my clothes
Pausing to bend down to stick my long nose
Into the bells of early daffodils
And also to extend a friendly pat
To Fred as he offers purrs for my ills
Cures for my chills: my backyard and my cat

Ahhhh, nothing better then spending time with your beloved Fred! What does Fred make of those ravens? I have often heard them loud as if they are in my own yard during our conversations on the phone. Big black beauties those ravens are, though a cat is no match for a flock of those scavengers! ph34r.gif

Love,

Hiya Dara, and thanks so much for the replies to these poor bastard children of my imagination which nobody wants to publish, apparently (self-pity break, sorry!).

I love you, little sister.

In answer to your question, Dara, those ravens are, I swear, as big as Fred. He regards them very warily; they are like huge glossy blue-black ducks with really strange voices. They don't quack, they... well, Grandma used to say that they "scold."

I must confess that I feed them, thus making them even bigger and fatter; they fascinate me no end. They are just one of the many eccentricities--if a salient and a high profile one--of good old haunted Studio Lance.

Here's something just for you, Dara; I know you'll understand this: I called up the local pizza parlor and ordered delivery tonight; I ordered salads without dressing and diet Coke (Teddy wasn't here tonight, so no pizza).

I love you. Silke sends her love, too.

Did the pizza place ask you if you would like any Pizza to go with your salad and diet soda? blink.gif Actually, I thought you were going to say you ordered pizza for the ravens...lol!

Hope the salad was delivered with no dressing as you asked, I HATE when I ask for salad and it is drenched in fat...what is the point?

Love ya!
Dara
