My Long Nose Into the Bells
(Rose Parade Weather)
The sky is bright and sparkling clear today
Huge ravens are calling to each other
Warm wind has scared the skittish clouds away
I don't even feel that I need bother
With my terribly eccentric green coat
On this most unseasonable morning
I would have to be a grumpy grey goat
To not appreciate this day scorning
All of this sunshine as I hang my clothes
Pausing to bend down to stick my long nose
Into the bells of early daffodils
And also to extend a friendly pat
To Fred as he offers purrs for my ills
Cures for my chills: my backyard and my cat
