Transcendental Sonnet #344:
Dreams Come True

Oh the sea so wide so unforgiving
Is filled up with the bodies of the dead
Those who had come had swum the once-living
Who fought and lost who justified the dread
Of our nightmares of the ice-cold ocean
Gave their last full measure of devotion

Those who proved against their will that the sea
Is ultimately invincible and
Roars and rages between us you and me
The two of us on either side on land

So I suppose I cannot swim to you
But if I could I would and be there now
Nevertheless I come some way somehow
We will yet be together dreams come true
