Transcendental Sonnet #341:
Best Birthday Present!

Today is my birthday! Be nice to me!

I am so damned old one really should be
Kind to us we chronologically
Challenged poets who live but for this art
Then shuffle offstage with a broken heart

Oh well what the hell I should make the best
Of the whole thing as a character test

Am I bitter? Damn straight I am you bet
Bitter and angry a lot of things... yet...

There is this one sweet redeeming feature
Standing out from all the absurdity
Magic mystic magnificent creature
And the miracle is that she loves me

Silke most pleasant! Best birthday present!

Hey, thanks so much, my New York friend (Dara's Brooklyn, so I have a special place in my heart for NYC); I also want to thank you here in public for your most kind personal message, to which I have replied.

I also should tell you that I enjoy and respect your poetry, and I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you in your writing.

Hi Steve,

On this day which celebrates your birth
I send you greetings from Mother Earth!
Most of your poems are full of mirth,
and deserve reading for what they're worth!

And you are with someone you love
you go together like hand in glove.
Though the weather may well be cold
the elements hold silver and gold!

It is your turn to revel in fun,
I hope all your wishes will soon become
Much more than just a longing dream;
a real sensation, a real team!

Happy Birthday
