Fish

Make a wish!
Don't know which.
For this dish:
Grab a knife, kill a fish.

In a pond where they swim.
Grab a stone, make it skim.
Bleed your guise on a whim.
Was it wrong, was it him?

In a lake where they live.
Smile and sing, cry and grieve.
They're the hardest to weave.
Quick to perish, so naive.

In a sea where the roam.
Lore from an ancient tome.
In the height of the foam.
In the Empire of Rome.

In the wind where they sing.
Close to my heart you cling.
A gold puppet on a single string.
The coldest winter hidden within spring.
A voice in your throat, a tattoo on your wing.
The dreamed times thus you bring.
A pretty fang, a nasty sting.
Kiss of death, an umbreakable ring.

None of these, do I wish.
Give me gills of a fish.
