Transcendental Sonnet #339:
All For You
Why can't it be my own heart and not hers
Why must such youth and beauty suffer so?
The answer to the question which occurs
Appears to lie beyond what I can know
Beyond the understanding given me
A riddle of surreal reality
She shouldn't suffer whatever her age
But that she is a lovely young dancer
Only increases my sense of outrage
Lends urgency to my thirst for answer
I have never known suffering like this
Her heart is broken and my heart breaks too
This heart of mine this hand this hope this kiss
Are all for you my Silke all for you
