hi everyone,
please bear with me as I test out this new forum. I'm hoping that it will be faster than the old one, and also, there are additional features that I'll post more about. I thought it was time for change. I still need to customise and stylize this forum, but I think it has a lot of potential, so please be patient with me while I make these changes the next couple of days. You should still be able to post without any problems. Feel free to IM me or post here if you encounter any problems or have any questions.
I've also noticed that this Invision board has a slighter higher learning curve than for the previous YaBBSE board. Interesting.

The new forum is up and running nicely. There is one major thing I need to fix, though. Namely, it seems that people who posted without signing in, as Guests, well it seems that their names didn't convert over to the new forum; instead, you see a blank where their name should be. I should have this fixed in the coming days. Another thing I've noticed is that your displayed name is identical to your login name; that is, you can't make your displayed name different from your login name. I may be able to fix this, but it will require a bit of work and tinkering. Everything else is working great, though, and I think that with a little work, this forum will be much better than the old one. There are a lot of 'extras' that this new forum has. All you have to do is explore and play around with it.

hi Veda,
it's nice to see you here. I can move your last topic on the old forum if you want. How's the speed of this forum compare with the old one? Any difference? I still have to change the style of things and correct the fact that the names of Guest postings on the old forum didn't transfer over.
I'm not sure why the topic is closed, unless I unintentionally set a time limit on it, in which case I'll see later tonight about having it removed.

well, im likin it
it
seems a little faster, but its hard to really tell.
the assistant feature i could live without but overall id say its pretty good.
id kinda like to be able to change the colors to a nice restful green but meh... thats what i thought about the last board too.
i also find 'guided mode' to be somewhat ghey, but, i like the smilies, and i like the online list that shows whos where doin what. but thats mainly for my amusement rather than having any practical value i can think of.
neway, party on shawn

hi Veda, Bill,
I'm glad you both like it, and especially that it seems considerably faster for you, Bill. I've been enjoying it a lot too, particularly seeing what other ppl are looking at, like Veda said, which is very amusing indeed. Also, it shows the search engine robots as guests when they're in the forum. So, for example, earlier today, Googlebot was listed as a guest for several hours while it was spidering the forum. Veda, I haven't tried the assistant feature, nor the 'guided mode', yet. In fact, I didn't even know anything about a 'guided mode' until you brought it up. Where is it, and what's it do?

Tonight, I changed the style a bit. Feel free to tell me if you think it's bad, or to suggest other changes. Also, I realize that at the moment, only the global moderators have been added to the new forum. The board-specific mods I have yet to add, mainly because it seems more complicated than setting global mods, but tomorrow, all the moderators should be added to the new forum.

hmmmm, that's interesting. It seems that you can log in anonymously too. To do this, don't do the 'quick log-in', but rather click on the 'log-in' link and put a check by 'privacy' when you log in.
