Well, I'm in an intro to western philosophy class and I need to write a paper on a philosophical idea. How do I just pick one idea, I can't even ask that question without thinking about the billion minute details that were taken by some philosophers to explain just one subject matter, how can I get out of this broad range of thinking... yeah, I'm kind of having a thought block/writers block. Is there any topic that hasn't been totally over analyzed yet? Any suggestions?

Welcome Jill,
Perhaps a suggestion. Cruise through the topics presented on this site. Pick the one that really annoys you or that you disagree with the most. That will supply not only the subject but the passion. If you are going to write about a dry subject at least you can generate the necessary passion to get you by the dry spot.
Then rip into it and discuss why that point is unsuitable and dead wrong. And then add what would be the correct approach. Before you know it you will be through the paper and sorry that you did not have enough room to completely straighten out the stupid !@#$% position of the paper.
I hope this helps,
John
