im a 14 year old kid and my mum thinks that my writing works are very morbid and sad and that a kid of my age should not be writing things so grim, she says that i have issues and my teachers think so too all because i like dramatic writing stories, i've read once that to move the heart you should write cold and that's what i like to do. A short story
exam is coming up and i want to write about two lovers that promise each other to kill themselves and the guy ends up killing the girl but not himself, but now i'm thinking otherwise because it'd true all i have been writing does have some kind of murder and killing in it so now...i don't know. What do you guys think?, do i have issues?

Hi Nathanial,
If writing stories like that is what interests you (and you're not interested in the practice) and has become an enjoyable hobby then I wouldn't give it up just because it may seem 'wrong'.
Why don't you post one of them on our story board?

Hi Nathanial,
It's good that you seek alternative advice about this situation.
First of all, I would say it is unusual for someone of your age to be able to write good stories about anything that would make adults concerned about your 'motives'.
You must presumably write convincing stuff!
If this is the case, and you have been influenced about what you read on 'moving hearts', why not write on .. lets say fantasy, or comedy, and see what reaction that brings?
It is possible that your strength lies in 'criminal' works but I would expect you to be able to write on other topics too!
So, go on, and show them!
Incidentally, I agree with Franziska, and encourage you to treat us to one of your efforts.
I do wish you every success on all of your ventures.
Best regards, Bill.

Hi Nathanial,
It seemed a good idea, but choose a category that you are comfortable with!
It would be good to see your efforts on the story board. I look forward to it.
Good writing time to you!
All the best, Bill.
