For all those interested in action, here's a chance to do something for the singularity without even getting out of your chair. : )

The idea of a 'singularity charity' has been in our minds for several years, but only recently has it become possible to put into action. We see the need for such a charity to address the main problems of public lack of awareness about new technology, and public lack of access to new techniques and developments, particularly in medicine, but also in education and research. People wanting to study 'singularity technologies' such as AI, Cryonics, Nanotech, Biotech, often have no idea when to begin. Often the college they need is in another country, the equipment they need is hideously expensive or frankly unavailable, or the funding dries up just as something interesting is starting to happen...Bright minds are also still being lost to poverty and isolation; many people are still not realistically able to afford to let their kids go to college, and this is the relatively wealthy west!
So here's one way of making an inroad to these problems. The charity's range of activities goes all the way up, from funding research to providing welfare kids with PCs. From recycling mobile phones to getting granny some time _right now_ in an MRI. From promoting cryogenics to encouraging people not to eat junk...and of course, publicising singularity issues.
We would like to say a big thank you to all those from this list who have already given us their time and energy to get this together, you know who you are, you stars.
So this is the launch of our collective endeavors...If you want to spread the word, obviously feel free. We'd be grateful for any links, etc, and can obviously reciprocate.
Best,
Alex Ramonsky and the trustees board of Tech-Aid.
