Prolouge
A tall man, with dark green eyes, stood in the doorway of an elobrately decorated bedroom. The room had to small, hand carved oak cribs on either side of the room, a dresser full of tiny clothes made of every color known to man, and too many toys for one man to count. The walls were a dark rich brown with light pine trim. The room had floor to celing windows which were covered with dark maroon curtins that bilowed in the light breeze. The room was lighted with many candles placed around the room, which sometimes gave off an eriey glow.
As the man stepped in the room he heard a loud shreik. Knowing where the shriek had come from he ran from the room and headed to his sleeping quarters. As he approched the door a servent came rushing out nearly crashing into him.
“Is there anything I can do?” the man inquired.
“No mi’lord,” the servent said as she rushed off. The man took a slight step toward the now closed doors but before he was able to open them he was stopped. “Mi’lord you musn’t go in yet,” the servent said as she rushed back into the room.
The man waited in front of the doors for what seemed like years, pacing back and forth. Within each minute he could hear loud screams coming from within the room. Not knowing what to do he kept pacing, making deep indentions on the hallway rug. After a few more hours a servent came through the doors looking somewhat relieved.
“Mi’lord, you may go in now.”
“Thank you,” the man said as he entered the room. This room was decorated similar to the other bedrooms. It had wall that were a dark brown color with pine trim. The windows were tall and were covered with dark blue curins. In the center of the room there was the master bed. Lying on the bed was a young, tall, woman, with dark blue eyes. In her arms she held two newly born babies each trying their hardest to get milk. The woman glanced up and saw her husband enter the room.
“Haratac come see you son and daughter,” the woman said as she shifted slightly.
“Oh, Aruora. They are beautiful,” Haratac said as he kissed her forhead. “What shall we name them?”
“How about Latarla and Erriek?”
“That sounds wonderful,” Haratac said as he picked up each child. “Harold, go and anounce to the kingdom that the now have a new prince and princess.”
“Yes mi’ lord,” Harold said as he stepped onto the balconly. “Your majesty, King Haratac and your Higness Queen Aruora would like to anounce the birth of your Prince and Princess!” Harlod stepped back into the room and went to the king. “It is done Mi’lord,”
“Excellent, you may go now,” Haratac said as he gave the babies back to his wife. “I must go now. For there is a welcoming ball to prepare.” Haratac kissed his wife and left the room with excitement showing on his face.
Seventeen Years Later
“But why must I go?,” Latarla asked as she looked toward her father. Now at the age of seventeen Latarlas beauty was clearly evident. She had long flowing blonde hair and light blue eyes. Her skin was slighlty tanned from all the time she spent out doors.
“Because I have heard new that there is an evil Sorcorer searching for all the princess,” Haratac said exsparated. He had been having this argument with Latarla for the past three days and was getting quite irrated.
“So what! There are people here who can protect me.”
“So what? So what? How can I get this through you mind? He wants to steal your power, Latarla. We can not let him have your power!” During this time each princess was born with some kind of power. The historans said it was to help them when they came into rule, but that was not the truth. For when each princess reaced the age of marriage, which was 25, they lost their power. Historians and astrologer and scientits searched for aswers but came up empty. So since the beginign of the age each princess was known to show some form of power.
“I know father, but I don’t wanna leave. I love it here it’s my home,” Latarla said as she paced around the room.
“I know it is darling, but you must. If he got your powers who know what he would do. You are a shape shifter. There are manythings as to which he can use your power for. You must leave. Now go pack. Please.” Haratac said as he left the room shutting the door behind him. As he walked though the hallway toward his room he saw a slight blurr go past him. Glancing up he saw Erriek run through the halls toward Latarla’s room. “I guess Aruora has told him the news,” Haratac muttred to him self.
Erriek headed towards his sisters room as fast as his legs could carry him. He skidded to a halt as he lightly tapped the door.
“May I come in,” He asked.
“I suppose so,” came the curt reply. As Erriek opened the door he could see Latarla slumbed against the far wall. He slowly walked toward her and sat down next to her.
“Latarla, I don’t want you to go, but I believe it is the best thing. I am going to miss you so much when you are gone,” he said as he wrapped his arms around her.
“I know,”Latarla sighed as she hugged him back. “I guess I should get packing.” Latarla got up and headed toward her dresser. When she arrived at her destanation she started pulling out clothes and threw them on the bed.
“I must be off,” Erriek said as he headed toward the door. “Must go to sword practice with Lyrech.”
“Do have fun,” Latarla said as she moved toward the bed. A few hours later Latarla was done packing and was ready to leave. Latarla headed toward the coach that was waiting for her. Before stepping into the coach she kissed each of her parents goodbye and then her brother. “Don’t get into to much trouble now,” she whispered in his ear.
“Oh, I won’t,” Erriek winked. “I’ve got something for you,” he said as he handed her a package. “To keep you company.”
Latarla took the package that was wrapped in silk. She slowly untied the bow and opened the box. What she saw excited her. Out poped a small gray and white head. “Oh, thank you Erriek,” Latarla said as she took the small puppy out of the box. “He is so cute.” After giving her brother another kiss she stepped onto the coach and rode off into the morning sun.
Four and a half years later
“King Haratac!” Harlod said as he ran into the king’s bedroom, “there is urgent new from the. .” Harold stopped his sencance short. There lying on the bed was King Haratac, but something was wrong. He was shaking uncontrolably. Harold walked over to the side of the bed and touched Haratac slightly. The king did not cease his shaking. “King Haratac are you ok?” After a few minutes the king stopped his violent shaking and lay still. Harold took a closer look at him and noticed that he looked rather pale and was sweating rather profusly.
“Help!” Harold yelled, “we need the healer!” Harlod ran from the room looking franticly for Groshel the king’s healer. After going down the hall Harlod spotted Professor Lyrech. “Professor,” he yelled, “professor!”
Lyrech stopped dead in his tracks and turned around. “What is it Harold?” Lyrech asked.
“Do you know where Groshel is. Something is wrong with the king. I need to find him.”
“ I believe he is in the gardens. Follow me,” Lyrech said as he ran down the hall towards the gardens. After a few minutes they reaced the castles beautiful gardens. They found Groshel sitting by the large angleic fountin.
“Groshel!” Lyrech said with a hint of panic in his voice, “Groshel, we need you know! Harold says there is something terribly wrong with the king.”
Hearing his name Groshel came out of his reveire. Looking up at Lyrech he quickly got up and headed towards the kings bedroom. On his way he stopped his servents and told them to bring all the herbs to the kings bedroom. When he reached the bedroom he saw the king lying on his bed. He approached the bed rather quickly and placed his hand on the king’s forehead.
“He has a fever,” Groshel said as he looked the king over. After he surveyed the king he waited for his servents to arrive with the herbs. After a few minutes the servents appeared and were carrying every known herb in the country. Groshel spent many hours trying to figure out what was the matter with the king. After trying the final herb he gave up and said, “There is nothing I can do. We must get another healer to look at him. Lyrech go to Prince Erriek and tell him he needs to travel to Noj and call upon the healer Asil Ttocs. He is the only one I can think of who can possibly know what is wrong with the king.”
Lyrech left the room at full pace as he looked for Prince Erriek. He finally found him in the training room. Where he proceded to tell him the news.
Chapter One
Prince Erriek Larswh was in the training room when he found out that his father was ill. His professor came up to him slowly and told him the news.
"Prince Erriek," Professor Cire Lyrech said softly. "May I have a word with you, please?"
"Sure, Professor. What is it?"
"I have some bad news," Lyrech said. "Your father was found ill this morning. He has a high fever and is having ceasurs every half hour. We can not figure out what is the matter with him."
"Holy smunker," Erriek said astonished. "What must I do to help?"
"We need you to travel to Noj and get Asil Ttocs. He is the only healer that can get your father better. It will be a long journey so get the fastest horse you can find."
"Yes, Professor," Erriek said. As he headed to the door he looked at Lyrech and said, "Professor, make sure nothing happens to him. I wouldn't be able to bear it if anything did."
Erriek went to the stable and picked the fastest horse he could find. On his way out of town he stopped at the local general store and purchased enough food for a few days. Upon the third day of his trip he ran into some trouble; his horse died two days away from Noj.
"Gosh damn it," He swore. "Why in the world does everything happen to me?" After a few minutes of walking it started to rain.
"See?" Erriek yelled to the gods. After about three hours of walking Erriek was attacked by some strangers. He fought as hard as he could but in the end he was overcome.
When he woke up it was dark. He realized that he was in some kind of room. As his eyes got focused he could make out certain shadows in the room. The room consisted of a small stone bed, one wooden chair, and a privy bucket. "This is great," He thought. "Just fine and dandy." After pacing around the room for hours, Erriek finally fell asleep. A few hours later he was startled awake by a large bang on the other side of the door.
"Boy, are you awake?" yelled the guard. "Get up now!. My master would like to see you."
"But, why should I?" replied Erriek, getting frustrated.
"Well, we can do this the hard way or the easy way. One, you can come on your own or two, I can beat you till you decide to come. Which will it be?"
"Fine, I'll come," Erriek yelled.
They walked down a narrow hallway toward a small room with a red door. The guard knocked once and entered.
"Master Yllas, I have brought him."
"Thank you, Mas. You may go," Yllas said. Yllas was a very powerful witch. She was partners with the sorcerer Astirala. When Astirala told Yllas that he wanted to take over the country of Nectacf, she gladly joined him. When she found out that Astirala planned to make King Haratac ill, she leapt up and took action. That is how Erriek was before her now.
"Ahhh, Prince Erriek. How nice to see you." Yllas said sarcastically as she glanced toward him.
"What do you want from me?" Erriek said.
"I want your sister Latarla. She has the power that Astirala needs to take over the country. Tell us where she is or pay dearly."
"I will never tell you," Erriek said.
"Well then, I guess I will have to make you." Yllas snapped her fingers and a servant appeared with a crystal ball. She walked up to it slowly and looked into it.
"How much do you love your father, my Prince?" She said with a grin.
"Don't you dare harm him," Erriek said alarmed.
"Oh, you won't be able to stop me." She smiled and beckoned him over, "Come look for yourself."
Erriek glanced at the ball and a look of horror clouded his face. A man was standing over his father with a knife.
"All I have do is say one word and he will kill your father." Erriek looked at the ball and then Yllas.
"She's on Niatirb," Erriek said sadly. "Just don't hurt my father."
"Great," Yllas said. "Mas,take him back to his cell. Leave him there till I need him again." Yllas turned and left the room.
The guard grabbed Erriek and walked him to his room. Yllas didn't know, but Erriek had power too. Erriek had the power of telepathy. He could talk to anybody he wanted to with his mind. Erriek decided to tell his best friend, Arev, what he had done. Erriek knew Arev would do anything to keep Latarla from harm.
"Arev," He thought. "Don't be afraid, it's Erriek. I need you to do me a favor. I am trapped in Yllas's cell. I told her where Latarla is. Don't be angry she forced me too. I need you to find Astirala and stop him from getting to Niatrib, go at once. And please don't tell anyone what I have told you." After Erriek was done he went over to the bed and tried to get some sleep.
Chapter Two
Astirala had been trying to track Princess Latarla for over two months, and has had no luck. He needed to do something quick; he had to have her power. So to swiften things up he cast a spell on King Haratac that made him ill. He knew that Professor Lyrech would send Prince Erriek to Noj and get the healer. He would then have Yllas attack the Prince and get the information for him. He was waiting for her now. As he waited he lit a fire and got out his crystal ball and cleaned it. He then set is on the stand. After cleaning the ball he cooked himself something to eat. As he was washing up the dishes, something appeared on the ball.
"Astirala," it said.
"Ahhh! Don't scare me like that," Astirala said alarmed. "I just ate."
"I have the news you seek," Yllas said laughing.
"Great," Astirala said gleefully. "What is it?"
"Opps! I forgot," Yllas said.
"What! You forgot! How could you forget?!," Astirala yelled.
"Ok, like take it easy. I was just kidding.," Yllas chuckled. "The Princess Latarla is on an island called Niatirb."
"Thank you! I will see you when I get back home." The crystal ball went clear and he turned away and got ready for bed.
It was late morning before Astirala left camp. "Damn," he swore. "I need to learn how to get up in the morning." It was a long and tiring ride to Niatrib. On the third day of his trip he came to a small town. He planned to meet his servant Hsoj down there. They were to meet and talk over how to assassinate King Haratac. Astirala arrived at the Hojgjh Inn thirty minutes late. He tethered his horse and went in. Astirala spotted Hsoj sitting in a booth in the back corner.
"You’re late," Hsoj said. "Where have you been?"
"That is none of your business. You are my servant and you will not question me," Astirala said getting angry.
"Um... Ok, like no need to get feisty," Hsoj said as he turned and called the waiter. They ordered some food and started talking.
"What shall we do master? Shall we kidnap him? Then stuff a sock in his mouth and tickle him to death?" Hsoj said.
"What! Are you crazy?" Astirala said.
"What? You tried already?" Hsoj questioned.
"Yes, he's not ticklish. I mean shut up that's a stupid question. Now get back on the subject. We shall get an expert swordsman and umm....we could....no...no we can't do that. How about we challenge him to the death?"
"Good plan master. I will get on that right away. Just as soon as I have some more to drink."
"No, do it now. Who knows what could happen? Better get it done and over with as soon as possible."
"Ok," Hsoj frowned as he left the inn.
Astirala planned to travel as fast as he could and buy a boat. Then sail to Niatirb. It took days to get to Netsirk. Once he got to Netsirk he headed towards the nearest boat shop. "Ummmm..... hello. I would like a boat please." Astirala said as he walked through the door.
"Welcome to my shop," a short round man said as he wiped his hands on a towel. "How may I help you?"
"Ummm.... Yes, like I said before I would like a boat."
"Certainly. What kind of boat do you need?"
"I would like to have a small one. At least big enough for two," Astirala said.
The shopkeeper went out back and brought a small boat to the front of the shop. "That will be a hundred dollars, Sir."
"Are you kidding? A hundred dollars for this piece of junk, cripes." Astirala said forking up the money. "Jeez, stuff is so expensive these days," Astirala mumbled to himself as he left the shop. Astirala took the boat to a small clearing about twenty miles of the coast of Niatrib. He made himself something to eat and finally drifted off to sleep.
Astirala woke bright and early. He needed to get to the Princess as soon as possible. As Astirala moved toward the boat, something from out of the shadows jumped on him from behind.
Chapter Three
Arev Toored was a lean, tall half-elven man. His mother was the fairest elven queen in the country of Kram. His father was a human. After his parents died last year Arev moved to Nectacf. Arev was in the bath when he got the message from Erriek. Arev and Erriek had become instant friends when they met the previous year. Arev was a little startled when Erriek told him the news, but after coming to his senses he got out of the bath and quickly got dressed.
As he got ready for his trip his servant asked him, " Sir, where are you going.? What am I to do if someone comes looking for you.?"
"I cannot tell you where I am going, but if someone does come tell them I have left and do not know when I will returm." Arev told him.
Arev then turned and left the house. On the third day of his trip Arev decided that he would stop in Neb and look up an old friend. He was hoping she could help him with his problem. As he rode into town he spotted a young lady walking out of an inn. Taking a look closer he realized that it was his friend Xela.
"Xela!" he yelled.
Xela looked over her shoulder and came running towards Arev. "Arev," she said rushing into his arms. "How have you been? I haven't seen you in ages."
"Well, if you let go of me I might be able to tell you," Arev mumbled in her arms.
"Opps, sorry," Xela laughed. "So what's the news?"
"Well, I have been in Nectecf training to be a knight in King Haratac's army," Arev said. "Just recently I have heard from Prince Erriek...." Arev paused, wondering if he should go on. "Ummm... If I tell you this you must promise not to tell anyone.
"Ok, I promise," Xela said seriously.
"Well, Prince Erriek spoke to me and told me that Princess Latarla is in trouble. He also told me that he is locked in a cell in Yllas's castle."
"The witch?" Xela said astonished.
"Yes," replied Arev. "what I am wondering is," he paused. "Well, could you travel to Incutas and try to get Erriek free?"
"Of, course I will," Xela said. "I will head out as soon as I can." She turned away from him and headed towards her home. Arev jumped back on his horse and headed towards Naitrib as fast as he could. He wasn't sure if talking to Xela was a good idea, but he wanted to make sure Erriek was alright. He arrived two days later in Netsirk. He headed towards the nearest boat store. He knew Astirala would need to buy a boat to get to the island of Niatirb.
"Is anyone here?" Arev yelled.
A short round man opened the door, and walked toward him. "Umm. Sir, no need to yell I can hear just fine. What do you need?"
"I was wondering if a man stopped by earlier today or late last night." Arev said.
"What do you want with this man? I don't think I will tell you where or which way he went." The short round man said.
"Well, what I want with him is my business," Arev said sternly.
"I believe you have good intentions, but it’s not my privilege to give out information about my customers." he said. "I will give you one minute to get away from here before I shoot you," the man said as he pulled out his gun.
"I warn you sir," Arev said calmly. "I will have my arrow in your heart before you can even pull the trigger," Arev said nocking his arrow with lightning speed.
The man looked at Arev and took a step back. "Ple...ple... please don't kill me. I...I... didn't mean it. Really. There was a man. He came by here around dinner-time last night. He bought a boat and headed up Shatesen Road," The man said shaking.
"Thank you sir, that's all I wanted to know." Arev said as he put away his bow and arrow. Arev walked down the path and came to a small clearing. He looked sharply around and saw nothing. As he moved farther into the clearing he could see an outline of a man. Arev started running towards the man. He walked up behind him silently and jumped on him from behind. After a few minutes had passed Astirala kicked Arev in the stomach and jumped into the boat. Arev got up and ran in after him, but he wasn't fast enough and Astirala moved on into the morning.
Chapter Four
Princess Latarla has been living on the island of Niatirb for four and a half years. The only company she has on the island is a few servents and a dog. Princess Latarla's favoirte thing in the world to do was to run, but the only running she has had in the past four years was running through the halls of the small castle that was on the island. The island was covered with flowers of every kind. It had rocks. More rocks then one person could imagne.
Princess Latarla woke up with a most desturbing dream. "Ahhhhhhhhhhh," Princess Latarla screamed as she woke up sweating. The dream she just woke up from stated that her father would die. "I must do something to warn him but what?" She wondered to herself.
"Princess is everything alright?" Sirhc, a servent said worried.
"Yes, I'm fine," Latarla said still shaking.
"Are you sure," Sirhc asked still worried.
"Yeah, positive," Latarla said waving Sirhc off. "Oh, wait," Latarla said as Sirhc walked to the door. "Could you let Groper in here for me.?"
"Sure,"Sirhc said. A few minutes later a big husky bounded in and jumped on the bed.
"Hello, Groper," Latarla said as she stroked his back. Groper was Lartarla's favorite thing in the world. He was the only one who would actually listen to her when she had worrries. That was what she was going to do now.
After Latarla was done talking to Groper she decided she would take a walk around the castle to get her mind off things. After about ten minutes of walking Latarla decided she would send a letter to her father warning him. She wasn't sure if he would believe her but it was worth a try.
"Dear Father, I am sending you this letter with deep concern for you life......." Latarla finished the letter and went to get Sirhc.
"Sirhc!" Latarla yelled. "Sirhc!"
"Yes, My Lady?" Sirhc said.
"Sirhc, will you make sure this letter gets to my father immediatly?"
"Certinly," Sirhc said as he headed for the tower.
After Latarla had gotten that off her mind she headed down to the kictcens to get a bite to eat. That night for dinner she had roasted ham, cooked carrots, apple dumplings, and red wine.
to be continued...(it may be a while be fore i get more of this done cuz im kinda on a writers block...but hopefully i will get out of my slump soon)
