One of the noblest motives for us is to seek and realize enlightenment and Truth. But why does this oftentimes degenerate into empty socializing? Perhaps because people run out of meaningful things to say, and would rather hear themselves speak than to endure silence? Why is it that our noble motives degenerate into utter vanity? I say that this holds in general, but certainly recognize exceptions from exceptional individuals or in exceptional circumstances. I think that if we, as a species, in general, held more tightly onto our ideals and noble motives, that this world would be a much better, meaningful, and fulfilling place.

Ideals and nobility are relative.

perhaps, but relative to what? For example, what are omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence relative to?

The same thing as enlightenment and truth.
The state of awarenesss, or level of conscious awareness.

I agree completely shawn, I have been forced to back off recently by pressures of work and my move, but I think it's kind of been a blessing.

I'm glad to hear it, Laz, so long as the pressures don't become too much. It's always good to have work to throw oneself into, particularly if one loves it and regards it more as 'serious play'.
But hey, don't be a stranger

well i was just going to say to Laz if you see this, im glad youre doin well and keepin busy and that you posted to let us kno. becuz i did wonder if you were alright :-*
and i was gonna just say that without mentioning anything about Truth seeking degenerating into empty socalizing.
but what i said to Laz, is that just empty socalizing? not meaningful?
but im telling Laz i care about him...
im just thinking that a lot of "empty socalizing" may have underlying meaning that maybe isnt always recognized by the intellect
well...uh... do you kno what i mean?

well, from my experience this entropy-like process is required for actual development of individuals.
one of biggest problems among the truth/ enlightenment/ divinity/ freedom/ absolute seekers is the process of internal transformation, which includes stages very much alike to clinic psychic and if unresolved - mental illnessess.
among them - depression, coming out of loneliness, feeling of detachment and other problems like this.
you have to go through the crisis points by yourself, but if you don't give up into depression and seek company and support of others, you can stand more, go deeper, share more and receive more.
this may look as "empty socializing", but even if it does - it not always is.
best wishes to you all
