I've gone ahead and written the code for and implemented cookie-based templates (or skins) for the forum. I'm happy to say that these new templates will work for the entire site, and not just the forum. Right now, I don't have much in the way of templates besides the 'default' and 'test', but with a little more work, things will start to look much more interesting.

hmmm, I'm having problems reading the cookie on the mind-brain.com server. Is anyone able to change templates in this forum?

the "stars" template is now available from the "Select a Template" drop down menu at the top of your screen (below the search button).

If anyone is having any problems with these templates, please let me know. Also, if you've gotten them to work and like them or have any suggestions for additional templates, I'd like to hear from you too.

Please note: While the "gold" template is available as an option, it's not finished yet and looks pretty bad right now. Hopefully in the next 24 hrs I can remedy this.

I've gone ahead and modified the 'default' template for the forum in an attempt to streamline the layout a bit. The former default template can still be used though, and can be found under 'old default' in the 'Select a Template' drop-down menu.

I'm curious what you all think of the new layout.... Do you like it better or worse than the old one? I haven't yet decided whether or not to keep the new layout, so if you have any feedback over which one you prefer, please let me know.
