hi everyone,

I've just installed a chat room for our forum and was wondering what you think about it. Does anyone find this useful? Has anyone experienced problems when trying to use it? If no-one finds it useful, I'll take down the chat room today or tomorrow, so please let me know whether it should stay or not.

p.s. for some reason, I don't think the chat room currently displays (in the forum) the correct number of people talking in the chat room.

I would think a chat room would be a very good idea, but have never used one myself.
It could avoid much of the misunderstanding that can arise from using the sterile typing approach!

But, what facilities are required on my computer? Just a headset? Any recommendations for a good headset? Any software?
Can I just listen if I have no microphone?
At the moment, my browser is downloading the java software!
I will buy a headset soon and try it out - I always wanted to look like a pilot!
Maybe we should have webcams next so we can laugh at one another like we do with passport photo's!

thanks for taking this up. All you need is the software you're downloading now to use the chat room. I'm not sure whether you can use headsets and webcams with this chat room, but let me know if you have any luck. Having webcams is an interesting idea.....

I'll look into other chat room programs and scripts later today. I don't like the fact that this chat room resides on a different server from mind-brain.com, and would like it a lot better if it resided on the same server.

OK, the chat room is now fully functional. It's actually quite fun! So, I'll leave it up for at least a few days, to help me determine whether to keep it here or not. If you get a chance, please try it out and let me know what you think.
