1) content,
2) content,
3) search engine optimization
Note that I'm painting with very broad strokes and have left out several details.... details that you should be able to find out with a little effort, though I haven't ruled out the idea of saying more about all of this.
I don't think you should be setting your goal based on the number of visitors, but rather also on the types of visitors. It won't matter much if you get 2000+ music-seekers to your site if you have no music on your site to offer.
