Tears,
Become a rain of sadness
That falls across a nation.
We mourn
The lives that we lost
On that September morning.

We cry
For the Angels that were born that day,
Who gave their lives
Trying to save those
Who they never knew.

We cry
For the parents
And for the children
Who never had a chance
To say good-bye.

We cry
For the husbands,
The wives,
And the lovers
Whose final thoughts
Were only of each other.

We cry
For the loved ones
Torn and left behind.
Whose tears have never stopped
And whose hearts may never heal.

We cry
For the memories
That will never fade.

Across the nation
Tears fall
Becoming a rain of sadness
That will forever touch us all.
