hi everyone,
I've converted the coding of the Mind-Brain.com forum from perl to php, which should make this forum faster, easier to manage, and more readily integrated with the rest of Mind-Brain.com. Also, there are new features in this forum that were not in the last one...... but I'll post more in the next couple of hours. I'm still working out some of the kinks in this forum.
Please let me know if you experience any problems with this new forum.
Also, if you notice that recent posts in the old forum are not in this one, there is no need for concern. I'm working on transferring them to this forum right now.
thanks, and
take care,
Shawn
P.S.
I think the style of this new forum leaves much to be desired.... but i'll fix that tonight.

hi everyone,
ok, I've fixed up the new forum template a bit. I'm still not satisfied with it: for example, I don't really like the square icons next to each board. I'll improve the template in the coming days. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
I realize some features of the old forum, like profile biographies and template changing, didn't carry over into the new one. I'll see about including these features. But, I should emphasize that this new forum has several new features that the old one didn't, like much better forum statistics and other stuff that I haven't yet explored. Also, this forum should be quicker than the last one, and will be easier to incorporate into the rest of the site, which I hope to do in the coming days.
Now, I tried to transfer over all posts from the old forum. I transferred all of the messages except for a few that were posted earlier today. I tried updating the message database manually, and did so for a few posts, but unfortunately it's very time consuming and rather difficult, and so I've decided to post the messages from the old forum that I couldn't transfer over to the new one, with the hope that the authors of the posts will decide what to do with them, whether to re-post them or not. Sorry about that.
Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the new forum. There's still a lot of 'cosmetic' changes I'd like to do with it, but nothing drastic at the moment. I have no intentions of switching forums again, so please don't worry about me doing this again, at least not for a while. And if I do, then the fact that all of the forum data is in a database (as opposed to flat-files as in the old forum) should make the transfer very easy, painless, and without any loss of posts or data.
If anyone has any comments over this new forum, or any general questions over why I switched forums, don't hesitate to ask.
take care,
Shawn

The translations are incomplete and subjective based on the level of understanding (consciousness) applied to the translating of Patanjali's text.
If you dive deeper into another reference you may find similarities and also great differences in the meanings of the words as well as the spiritual values attached to their intent.
One thing of great importance that has been overlooked in your interpretation of Yoga and Patanjali's intent.
Quote:Patanjali says; once the aspirant has found his ideal form of Godhead and his way of approaching it, they must stick to it.
The ideal form of Godhead to the ego is whatever feels good, right, best. The ideal form or universal form is what works for all not just one. So your form must work as well for others as it does for you.
Since none are separate in truth and in Consciousness it is not the individual preference for idealism that can bring universal oneness or Godhead into form.
That presence may be experienced differently by individual interpretation but Consciousness is always onsciousness. The tools are basic to the entire universe and although there are many they equally effective as long as they are used correctly.
Like using a butter knife for a screwdriver the effectiveness is the same for all, it can be successful and even easier if the screw is difficult, to use the correct tool designed for the purpose.
5000 years of interpretation at different levels of consciousness has produced elaborate and colorful descriptions of the universal principles.
Best not take any single interpretation until you have spent enough time with all of them as long as you are determined to analyze and decipher the meaning of life on your own.
If you decide to choose on your own for a way, or a path to follow make sure it is universally applicable and it is always good to be able to see the results of such application, or in other words be able to recognize God in form.

Without wishing to interfere at all, I realise that two strong characters with commonality, can love one-another so much, that in reality they seem to be interfering in each others lives. I hope you are each able to express your intentions clearly so that you can become even more closer. Past mistakes are to be avoided as excuses for present mistakes. I have the greatest respect for both of you, and would be comforted to know that you may become closer to each other!
I really hope you can resolve this situation, even if it takes some time for re-consideration.
Friends, of all sorts, are not easily established - it is essential that they are not 'discarded' lightly.
I send my best wishes for your early re-establishment of total friendship and support for each other, even if some breathing space is needed.
Best regards, Bill.

Walking in the twilight.
Another day
Slipping into memory.
Thinking only of you
With a smile
And with tears.
Feeling the loneliness
As the night begins to fall.
Wondering
If you feel the same ache within your heart.
Praying
That our love can bridge the distance
Until we are together.
Dedicated to Mi Angelita.

hi everyone,
I'm still working on enhancing the 'look' and aesthetics of this forum... does anyone have any suggestions about this? For example, I'm still not sure what sort of icons to have next to each board on the main forum page (right now, the icons are little blue spheres).
I will definitely implement templates and 'skins' again, sometime within the coming days. This time, I'll try setting things up so that the skins will be for the entire site and not just the forum.

actually, I have some complaints along with my props.
Props first: The board looks very nice. ;D
Complaints: My 'login' experience is very frustrating as I think I have logged in but when I try to submit a reply I am told to 'login' again. When I do login again, the reply is erased and I have to retype it (or 'paste' it, as I have learned to do). Also, the site seems to load a lot slower when I am using my cellphone modem. A whole lot slower.
aside from all that bitching, I think you kick ass and your site kicks ass

hi Dan,
thank you for your post. It's important for me to clear up any technical problems on this site, and by providing feedback like yours, you help me out considerably.

Are you still experiencing this problem? If so, is there anyway for you to tell what cookies are on your computer? There should be a cookie called 'mindbrain......' that stores whether you're logged in or out, and I think if you're not getting the cookie, then that might be the reason why you don't stay logged in. The problem will be fixed, but I still need to determine exactly what's going wrong.

Just the forum, or the entire mind-brain.com site? I'm not sure what the reason would be, but it would help me out a lot if I knew if the problem was just with the forum or with the fact that I recently switched over to php for the rest of the site.
take care,
Shawn
p.s.
thank you for the nice comments.
