AMERICA PRAYS
As the sun rises above the trees, between the buildings, across the mountain tops,
We will forever look at it's beauty in a whole new way,
Nineteen terrorists changed our lives, how we see, how we feel, how we love,
How often we express it, and how often we pray.
When we see an airplane, floating through the air,
And hear loud noises, and see things that we don't normally see,
We immediately think the worst, and a sense of panic reaches our minds.
Nineteen terrorists changed our lives forever, how we think, how we touch, how we breath,
How we handle each days, constant bump and grind.
When our children leave home, just to go to the store,
We make sure they know and understand we love them and appreciate them,
Nineteen terrorists changed our lives, every aspect of the way we live, the way we feel,
And we must never let the light in our hearts grow dim.
Before the devastation, before the murder of innocent life,
When we heard Nine One One, we thought of accidents and heart attacks,
Today we think of terrorists, Trade Centers, Pentagons, Pennsylvania, and Heros,
Nineteen terrorists changed our lives, and we will never regain the world we knew,
But now we have found compassion, and extra room where love grows.
Nineteen terrorists, took a Nation, brought havoc and destruction upon it,
We were complacent, we were comfortable with the ideas of being safe and free,
We are the USA, the mighty of the mightiest,
Terrorism was something we just didn't see.
So today one year later, we bow our heads and on bended knees,
We pray to our God above for the strength and insight to get through another day.
And as for those nineteen terrorists that changed our lives so dramatically,
They intended to cause fear, but what they truly done, was cause America to kneel and pray.
