I am starting a new thread here after briefly looking over a site that made me think of a wonderful idea to commemerate 9/11! Maybe everyone here at  Mind-brain could give us your thoughts on 9/11/01 and where you were? what you were doing? when you heard about this heartvreaking news! I thought it would be interesting to compile these thoughts since we have members all over the world! Here is a thought from  a man telling of where he was when tragedy hit our nation...

Where were you on 9-11-01? I was woken up by a phone call from a frantic friend who's mother was in New York City. I turned on the TV just as the second tower was being hit. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Thankfully my friend's mother was okay.

I was on the beach [Arenal I think] on Majorca.
I woke up just as my wife came running back from the beach cafe with some cold drinks.
She had seen the first reports breaking on their TV and was shouting about the disaster.
I tried to calm her, saying that it must be tragic accident, but she insisted that it was worse than that.
I went over to the bar.
I could not believe that human beings could carry out such a ghoulish operation, intentionally.
I have never woken up so fast in my life!

Thank you Bill for your reply! You are from the UK right? It is nice to see how someone from there reacted to this!

I was home. I woke up at 7:30 am (Pacific time). The radio station had just announced that LAX had ordered all planes down. I didn't think much of it at the time....thought it was a bomb scare or something similar. When I turned on the TV, film of the second plane crashing was being shown.....I cried. I woke my Dad up and told him what had happened. A little later, i went out to get the paper. I saw some of our local gang members talking about hwat had happened. They were actually crying...these tough, wannabe thugs were crying....that's when the truth of it all hit me. :'(

i was in class-my professor had no idea what was going on-when i left class i heard some people talking about the pentagon but really had no idea-then i stopped at the bank and heard about it on their radio they had on.  So i went home and turned on the news, called my mom and went and waited 6 1/2 hours in line to give blood.
i cried so much that day for all the people who were directly affected, and all those who didn't know where their loved ones were.  i just wanted to do something to help out ya know, so i gave blood.
