This poem is sbaout some of the abuse I endured, in fact, this is the hardest for me to tlak about, think about, or even admit to myself...
The Survival of a Nothing Child
This is the story of a child betrayed at the earliest age.
The setting is a large room, the villain is a large man.
His character is often called "Daddy" by the little girl,
Though he refers to her as "nothing"
Because he is either not aware, or doesn't care,
That such a tiny child is deserving of a name.
The scene begins and ends the same,
With tears flowing from the nothing childs eyes.
He laughs heartily at the sight of her sobs,
Gagging her with the scent of his sour breath.
And all she can do to escape his torment,
Is imagine herself away from this place.
When she has successfully escaped from her body,
This story continues while her mind is out of harms way.
Now the camera zooms far overhead,
And the scene takes the perspective of this very nothing child,
Peering down at her own self from the safety of above.
What she can no longer feel happening to that body down there
She is forced to witness, a  horror that no child should know.
Lets fast forward the unpleasant details of this next part,
For the little girl has stored the images in a safety deposit box
In the bank of her mind, and she cannot yet find the key.
This story so sad, ends much the same as it began,
With many tears and reinforced fears, that the nothing child
Begins to recognize all too well.
This is the story of the beginning,
Rather the ending, of her life.

hello Dara,
that's a very tragic poem, and I had no idea that it had any basis in reality when I first read it, before you posted it here. At the same time, it's very inspiring to see your actions and words, here and now, and I can't help thinking that such an early catastrophe in life has but made you stronger and more appreciative of what many take for granted.
Wishing you the best, my friend.
take care,
Shawn

Thanks for the reply, Shawn! I must say that I do take NOTHING for granted in my life. I try to deal with all of the repercussions form my abuse as a child, and it isn't easy. Not one bit...but, I am still here, still making it in life! SOMEHOW!
Take care, Love, Dara

Dara,
You are absolute angel!!! I agree with Shawn that what you have went through has made you astronger person and to remember never to take things for granted! I believe I read this poem before but I am not sure I applaud your courage to post this heartfelt and sad poem! I love your word choice especially the line about the saftey deposit box! Yoour memories I amsure were safer there and I have the same anology of memories in my past you can't find the key but you will someday and you will be stronger stillt his is all a process my dear! and you are coming through on top! I know your story will help so many others! You are by far a person of nothinghness but as a child to be made to geel that way is a horrible experience! You do deserve a name and you have one Dara and it suits you perfectly. You amaze me everyday with your courage and continue strength thanks for once again inspiring me
Love a true friend,
Chrissy
