For quite some time I used Microsoft Internet Explorer as my sole browser. I admit that v6.0 is much more capable and stabile than v4.0 and v5.0.

However, after studying web design, I learned that IE does not conform to the Web's universal standards (See for reference: http://www.w3.org/ )

I tried using two of IE's competitors, Opera and Mozilla.

Opera loads pages faster than IE, but it does display the wide variety of pages that IE does. For example, Opera cannot load www.macromedia.com.

Mozilla, which is a stripped down and less-buggy edition of Netscape, is now my browser of choice. It thoroughly complies with W3 Web standards. It is amazingly stabile; after weeks of use it has not crashed once. It is also at least as fast as IE, if not faster.

For further study, have a look at:

MyIE2, with it's tabbed interface and additional capabilities, is my fav, though Opera ranks a quasi-distant 2nd.

While myIE2 does allow you to customize IE's interface to make it more manageable and user friendly, keep in mind that it is just a shell and not a new broweser altogether. Mozilla and Opera were written with different code than IE.

By the way, I found that myIE2 made IE buggier than it already was. I could not compose a Hotmail message with myIE2!

Best regards, Bill.

My own present favourite is fast browser.
Others I have tried include:
Galshan
Opera
Mozilla
phoenix
Mozilla
1st choice browser
32 bit browser
avant browser
crazy browser

slimbrowser

PS I've just downloaded myie2 [now at version 0.7.435] and it seems ok so far. It also claims to be available at yeahnet, but I could not get through to that site - hence the alternative I show above. Maybe my VISA needs updating !!!!
Best regards,   etc.

thanks, Bill.  Btw, where do you get Fast Browser?  I've never heard of it.
Shawn
ok, so I googled 'Fast Browser', found their site, and downloaded their software.   My opinion:  while Fast Browser has some very useful features, one thing that I find disconcerting is that, when you click on a tab to switch to a different web page, it takes over a second to switch, whereas MyIE2 switches instantaneously.   One thing I was very impressed with, with Fast Browser, is the ability to move tabs (when you have multiple pages open) and sort them, but then I downloaded the most recent version of MyIE2 (version 0.7.829) and noticed that they just implemented this feature too, and so I was very happy with this and will stick with MyIE2 for now.

However, I would be curious to hear about what other people think of Fast Browser or MyIE2 or any other useful browser, and what features they like about the browser or find useful.

I've tried MyIE2 and I like it very much.
I dowloaded the latest beta version 0.7.829 and am very pleased with the performance and facilities it offers.
Thanks for the suggestion!
