ok.. what is the difference between a mental breakdown and an emoitinal one??  thank you!!!! ROoze* :-* :-*
Doug_E._Fresh
A mental breakdown occurs when someone can no longer differentiate between fantasy and reality, and they usually are taken to a mental hospital and quickly drugged up.

An emotional breakdown is what happens when a woman has her period.  :-/

You know, I hate making comments about people, but Doug's remarks are a prime example of the differenc between a 'boy' and a 'Man.' A real man would never make light of such things.

You were trying to be serious yet you wrote "lol" in your subject line?

If my answer upset you so much, maybe you should take a deep breath, have a beer, and take a walk in the park.

*Taking notes* Real men...do not...say that women...have emotional breakdowns...when they are visited...by their monthly....friend.

Got it! Thanks for the advice, enlightened one.

surely you see the humor in it all, Doug

real "men" know how to stop displaying their iggnorance to the world.... U obviously don't  ;D
Doug_E._Fresh
Real men don't feel threatened when others call their manhood into question, particularly those people who don't know them personally  ;)
angelroze

OK, I see that we are having a difference of opinion here. On one hand, Roze was asking a question that she wanted a serious answer for, and on the other hand, Doug joked becuase he saw "lol" in the subject. Now, I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and it seems like Doug is otnumbered here, sop maybe I am TOO liberal, but I think that Doug was just joking. Reading many of his posts, it seems to be the pattern of his personality, to be a kidder, a joker, maybe Doug is the class clown! Am i right Doug? Honestly, I find Doug's humor refreshing, like  a reality check, or a break from the seriousness of life!
BUT, I also can see why so many people got insulted or upset by the comments. Doug, you insulted women in general, thats all I have to say!  ;)
So, can we learn something from this interaction? Can we learn that there is a time and a place for silly comments? Can we learn to be more clear when we are being serious about a topic? Can we learn to take a joke for nothing more than a joke? Can we learn that not everything can be joked about?

OK, I am sorry if I am rambling here, I just hope all of this can be straightened out...

Love to all,
Dara wink.gif

Before someone has a breakdown from reading or writing on this topic, I post to say that if there is a difference between mental and emotional breakdowns, it is only in the types of neurotransmitters that may be involved.
I would say mental breakdowns cover the whole gamut of breakdown types possible. Emotional breakdowns would be a subset of them.
The breakdown usually only occurs after a period of dysfunction of neurotransmitter production and balance, and is dependent on the stresses involved, the coping mechanisms that are adopted (unrealised), and the individuals' constitution. For me it was 40 years, with no knowledge of mental dysfunction. (some may say I'm still dysfunctional)!
I find that the vast majority of people have dysfunctions of this type (of one sort or another), which account mostly for behavioural deviations from the norm.

Best regards, Bill.
PS When you don't know there's something wrong, you  don't try to fix it!
