Hardy Parkerson
Hello!  I'm Hardy Parkerson, a trial lawyer from Lake Charles, LA, and a poet of sorts.  My inspirations as a poet are Langston Hughes and Edgar Lee Masters.  I have about 70 ditties listed on Poetry.Com.  Hope you will go there and read them.   Nobody ever said I was a good poet just a poet.  Now they've said I was a good lawyer, at least those I get off and those whose cases I win and settle for good money.  Just disovered this site.  Frankly, I do not know all that much about computers, but I am learning.  Years ago I was light-years ahead of everyone else with computers, but I became outdated, and others passed me up.  I like navigating on Counsel.Net and Poetry.Com.  Also, I am a college professor (Law and Criminal Justice, once taught at L.S.U. in Baton Rouge), and I just discovered Teacher.Net.  Hope to hear from some of you!  Best of luck!  HARDY PARKERSON, Atty., Lake Charles, LA (The Cajun Poet)

Welcome Hardy!

I see you enjoy reading and writing poetry.

I am a member on poetry.com, but do not visit anymore.
They have published a few of my poems, and created CD's and cassettes of my works, but I have never bought anything.
I even won prizes, but because I couldn't attend the convention in the USA, I would have had to pay to receive them.
Their reputation was badly dented by the 'weak poetry' fiasco. People sent in the worst poems they could write, one was utter gibberish with not a single recognisable word in it! The author was offered the option of publication! Legal Beagles [excuse the pun] are looking into their operations.
Anyway, I am sure you will enjoy yourself here at Mind-Brain, the site for thinkers, helpers, problem people and anyone else who would like to join the Family.
If you have any problems with computing, you may well find help on that topic too. I am no expert but know enough to keep myself occupied forever, keeping mine going.
I look forward to talking to you soon!
Best regards, Bill.

Dear Franziska,

Thanks for the message!  Hope I am not doing the wrong thing by telling you you are pretty.  I never got mad at a woman for telling me I was handsome. It still happens sometime.  I need to explore Mind-Brain.com more and see just how it works. I spend some time on a site that looks just like this one called LA-Legal.com. It's pretty neat. It's for Louisiana lawyers and/or Legal Eagles, of which I am one.  I will be trying to return to this site.  I just discovered it by typing my name in on the Google search function.  I had forgotten about having been here back in early August.

I had an interesting day today in court.  My client was fixed for trial before a judge who had 91 felony criminal trials fixed before him this week, including at least two Murders, two Aggravated Rapes and Two Armed Robberies.  Yet it was my little lady charged with stalking her daugter that they called for trial, and that is not even scheduled to begin until Wednesday, when they will actually call the jury. Can you believe fixing 91 defendants for trial and making all of them be present on Monday morning at 9:00 A.M. and issuing bench warrants for them if they are not present, and then not even calling the jury until Wednesday morning; and all the time five of the eight courtrooms are sitting empty! I've got an attitude, but I will tell you that the Criminal "Justice" system has broken down in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, and we have a type of anarchy; and no one seems to care, noone  except the hundreds of men who languish in jail awaiting a trial which never seems to come.  Oh, yes!  I forgot to metion that among the 91 cases fixed for trial today and this week, some of them are as old as five and six years, and yet is my poor little lady client whose case is not very old that was called for trial.  They offered to drop two felonies against her if we'd plead to one misdemeanor, but we said, "no dice!"   We are not going to plead guilty to anything!  Let them take their best shot!  My client's no criminal, and I do not want her to have any kind of a criminal record, not even a misdemeanor criminal record. She was living out of her car until just recently when her car had problems and she took it to have it fixed, and the crooked mechanics wanted so much money, and when she did not have it, they would tell her to get her car off their property; and she would have to call a wrecker, and that took more and more of her money. Every bank she goes to to open an account takes her money, opens her an account and then when she attempts to withdraw some money, they won't let her, and they close her eaccount and tell her to get off the bank's property or they will call the police; and they do call the police.  When we get through suing them, the banks, they will learn not to treat a lady that way, just because she is homeless.  She can't get a government house because the D.A. has charged her with a couple of phony felonies.  She will never go to trial on those felonies, and she will never plead guity to them, nor even to the misdemeanor that they offered her to plead to in return for their dropping the felonies.  I am glad she told them to take it and shove it.  There is more to it all than this, but his is something to think about.

    Sincerely,

    Hardy Parkerson,  Atty.
