Has anyone seen the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion? Im posting it in here cause the main story of evangelion is about the coming of the "third impact" which is kinda similar to the singularity. The third impact in the series means alot of things but one possiblilty is the evolution of human consciousness. If anyones interested I'll explain it more. The series also has alot of interesting psychology and religous references. I definetely reccomend it!

I've seen some anime, and for the most part, have enjoyed it when it retains a certain level of sophistication and maturity (the blatantly childish anime I'm not too fond of). Â I've never seen or heard of the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, but would be personally interested in finding out more about it, particularly if it propounds a vision of the singularity.

Yea alot of anime is really bad but the good stuff is awesome. One version of NGE's singularity or "third impact" is that everyone's AT fields will disappear and all of humanity will merge into a single consciousness. In the series the AT field is described as what seperates one's ego and soul from others and the world. It's a bit more complex then that but that's the best way to describe it. I'm curious to know if an AT field is a real term or concept in psychology.
You also might be interested in checking out Serial Experiments Lain. It's very complex and sort've has what might be called a singularity. In the series the internet or the "Wired" is merging with the real world. Supposedly there was a design or plan to use the schumann resonance or the electromagnetic wave between the earth and the ionsphere to create a neural network between all the minds on earth.
You might want to check out Ghost in the Shell also if you havn't seen it.
