Hello peeps! Just wondering if anyone was going or is already in the field of psychology. I am a sophomore in college and am not quite sure if this is the right field for me. Just wanting to know what your experience in this field means to you. If you are not involved in this field, maybe you would feel free to talk about what you are involved in?!! THanx ;D

I think Dara is in the field of Pyschology! I know she is working as a special education teacher and she works with kids having emotional issues etc...! She is a great person and her work is commendable! I took alot of Pysch course in college! I am headed back in a few months! I took Developmental Pysch Abnormal Pysch and General Pysch for starters I have a degree in Human Services and am still working on my BSW in Social Work with a minor in Sociology!

ooops sorry Lindsey I didn't answer all your questions!  :-[This field is very rewarding for me! I have alwasy wanted to help others every since I had my surgery and I enjoy it very much! I hope to someday work in a residential treatment facility for troubled teens! or maybe another part of the field! Pysch and social work go hand in hand and This field is in great demand Especially in this day and age there are so many broken families and people in need!!!!! I hope this helped! ???

Love always,

Hi Lindsey! Sorry I took so long to read this post! I did minor in psych in college, with my major in Special Education. Basically what that meant for me was just taking every psych class possible, and I did! I really loved learning about the brain, the mind, development, social interactios, when things go wrong, etc...
I also took drug and alcohol abuse classes which were VERY interesting, and could have lead to a certification in that area, but all the classes were not offered in my school. I did get certified in Hospice care, there is another wonderful group of calsses I took! Basically, these courses give you a real glimpse insied families in crisis, and how to help. It was a real learning experience, and I am glad I took all those classes.

My advice to you is this, if you are interested in working with people, in a helping career, if you like to learn about paople, and if you are willing to study hard, then you may like the field of psychology! Remember, I minored in it, it may be a completely different experience for you if you have to major in it, ok?

Good luck and keep us posted please!

Love, Dara wink.gif

I'm a psych major too, but like you I'm just a sophmore so I'm pretty much in the same position as you. I really have no idea what I want to do after grad school :-/
