Eating the Moon
There may always be Monday morning
But there will always be Friday night
To slide by a cop with a warning
And to make it all turn out all right
Like the best movie you ever saw
Where the sights you see are out of sight
I like to live by natural law
Pick forbidden fruit and take a bite
Just as I please and then eat it raw
And who is to tell me I am wrong?
All I want to do is sing my song
If you want to know what I think of
This situation which we are in
I will tell you I see only love
Where some other people might see sin
But how can it be sin for me to
Be the person I am and be free
To scare up some love to share with you?
I choose to live life naturally
Love is the heartbeat of what I do
You who love me more when I am wrong
Sing your song and let me sing along
When we suffer Tuesday afternoon
We think about Thursday at twilight
And how Friday night is coming soon
When we will be beautiful and bright
I lick my whiskers and kick my heels
In anticipation of the moon
Even now to feel how good it feels
To sacrifice haste and slowly taste
Our slice of moon we share with a spoon
Feeding each other getting along
Eating the moon and singing our song
