After about three weeks of taking 2.5-5 mg every few days and not really noticing much I decided to up it to 5mg a day. I soon began to feel great. I was focused, very optimistic and getting tons of stuff done, both short and long term goals. I also felt very confident and sociable. I was sure this was the drug for me. However I began to notice several side effects after a few days. Most notably, spacial disorientation, forgetfulness, trouble articulating, irritability (though not while on that days dose, just after it wore off) sensitivity to light, and weird bouts of tiredness that would come at odd times. When I was actually on the dose, my mood was great. But it was an odd feeling being completely ready to tackle life goals and daily work but without the cognition to do them effectively. I decided to back off the dose as of course the maob inhibition is longer term, but when I dropped down to lower doses, 2.5 daily, or eod, I lost the extreme motivation and focus that I had on the daily 5mg dose. I suspected that my choline levels were depleted so I got a choline source and it seemed to help a little with the brain fog, but I havent since had the same confidence and motivation that I had on the 5mg dose.

So are those side effects something that I would have to live with in order to experience the greater positive effects of a higher daily dose? Or do you think what I was experiencing had something to do with the pseudoamphetamine like semi-immediate effects of the drug.

I would drop deprenyl for a month to clear our your system. Perhaps galantamine in the meanwhile.

And after a month what would you suggest doing? Is there anyway to maintain that type of feeling I had everyday? I will see how the galantamine works out though, thanks for the suggestion.

Going back on at 2.5-5 mg and cycling off on weekends.

I had the same thing happen with me...I've stopped the deprenyl for now.

I was taking 12.5mg x 4 stablon ed and added 10mg deprenyl and very quickly I began to feel very spaced and dizzy / confused, out of it. I was getting sick at the time (bad cold) so I thought it was that and I kept taking the deprenyl. The cold went away but I still felt a bit out of it, so I stopped the deprenyl last week. Starting to feel a bit more 'normal' now. I'm almost positive it was the deprenyl. Definately was expecting it to make me more alert and active, not spacy and out of it..

It's too bad, I had high hopes for deprenyl. Maybe I should also add in choline citrate + some l-dopa if I try it again, with a lower dose (around 5mg split morning/evening).

I am thinking of trying Modafinil in the meantime.

You may respond better to 1-5 mg dosing.
