Hi folks,
Hopefully this is an appropriate forum. In brief: 57 y/o male, diagnosed clinical/major depression 7 years ago. No medication worked. Psych. as ‘last resort’ prescribed Parnate, 5.5 years ago. Eureka! New life. Still efficacious, though perhaps not as much so as at beginning. On 30 mg/day. Have relocated Australia --> France, Parnate not available. Tried a Canada drug com, but was in fact a scam. Researched Net, found Stablon. New GP considers very appropriate. I look forward to this change in medication (if it works – please!) to go with new life here in Paris.
Finally, my question: does anyone know how the transfer between these two drugs should be undertaken? My French GP is unfamiliar with Parnate. I am scared, frankly, of having to ‘come off’ Parnate for an extended period before commencing Stablon, since when I arrived here with 6 months supply Parnate I tried to decrease dosage a) to make supply last since was unsure where I could obtain the drug, cool.gif had idea that maybe I could ‘do without’ drugs by now. Even 5mg less per day had pronounced and very unpleasant effect.
Possibly, since most of the info on Parnate is very old now, a new drug like Stablon would not cause problems if the changeover were quick.. or even if one ‘segued’ into the other?
Any advice would be very much appreciated, and of course I understand that advice given here in no way makes the advice-giver in any way liable for anything that may occur though my taking that advice. (What a mouthful).
Thank you smile.gif
