AUSTRAL ALIEN
Am I glad I came across this forum thingy. I am a truth seeker and free thinker. For years I have been searching for the real truth, because it is the only way we can have peace in the world.

I have been honing in on my heroes lately. They include Robert Pirsig, Noam Chomsky, Richard Dawkins, Stephen Hawking, Karl Marx, Emmanuel Kant, Jean-Paul Sartre, the Dalai Lama, Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.

The book that has had a profound affect on me is the book by Robert Pirsig - "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance". It is not a book on maintaining your motorcycle, but it is mentioned in passing. It is a book of enlightenment and discovery of Zen truth (absolute truth). Also the importance of Yin and Yang in our daily lives. Harmony and Balance are important, not only in Ecological terms, but human life itself and can include motorcycles as well or any other complex systems.

I have developed a maxim from reading this book. "Absolute Truth is but a Moment in Time". All other truth is only relative. We live our lives in relative truth and depending how far back in time you go, truth becomes less relative. That is why I can not see the truth in the Bible, it's just a good read. As we all know absolute truth is not called upon in everyday life, but when it comes to being an eye witness in a court case it is very important.

I've had many thoughts on the origin of the Soul and it's relation to sub-cognitive thinking. I really think the Soul is really the very first remnants of memory. This is why I have joined this forum, to explore the origin of memory.

By your captialization of the word "Soul", I assume you believe the "soul" is somehow immortal. How is this remnant of memory preserved after the destruction of the brain?

Dear, dear, dear, one capital letter and I'm in trouble already. The reason for the capital "S" in soul is there to merely bring attention to it.

I have no thoughts on the thereafter, only in the living.

Dear Austral Alien,
Welcome to Brain Meta. Do not listen Rick he is an old "atheist".
Investigation of such phenomenon as Soul is one of agendas of the contemporary science.
Probably your heard about "out of body experiences". There are numerous rumors that in altered state of mind people can travel all around the world like Jumpers from Jumper Movie. Possibly that is why Islam forbids to warship human Image, seems Jumpers in altered state of mind can jump via some photos (transform, 'teleport', re-transform), e.g. via Monna Lisa portrait. In Harry Potter movie small wizards can talk with Paintings at walls, if you noted Parsifal Dumbledore tells to one old guy painted at portrait to go to the same portrait in other location in England to warn others about danger.
The other question is "does out of body state experience possible when the body is dead?" Who knows maybe, if body is well mummified, then some may live eternally like Dracula jumping here and there and then returning to the Sarcophagus. Seems without sarcophagus they may get trapped in some place called Hell and the most nice one may join other nice channels.

So you can see that the Brain Meta is an interesting place. wink.gif
As representative of the Neutral Side of the Force I do welcome you at Brain Meta.

Who knows, maybe in such a way one can get education in the Invisible College.
Enki
Or travel over the shrines of the Invisible Empire?
