My brother is preparing to start his first year of undergraduate study and thinks he wants to eventually pursue a career in neurosciences - specifically, a branch involving interaction between the mind and machine (neuroprothestics for example). His college does not have any sort of neuroscience or biomedical engineering program so we're trying to figure out what combination of majors would prepare him best for graduate studies. He plans to double major in Computer Science and one other field. Here are my thoughts regarding other useful bachelor degrees, ranked in order of usefulness for what he wants to do (in my opinion).
1-electrical engineering
2-biochemistry
3-chemistry or biology
I've been looking at admission pages for graduate neuroscience programs and it seems like they really do accept a wide variety of undergraduate majors, so I haven't come to any definite conclusions. Any suggestions or anecdotes?
Thank you!
