Hi guys!

So, after a nic amount of random searches on wikipedia, I discovered nootropics.

A bit of background:

I'm 30 yrs old, I have a history of ADD (was diagnosed with it when I was six or so, so a long time before it became more common) that presented itself when I was younger primarily as poor impulse control (ie calling a teacher a telling a techer, when she wouldn't let me sit next to my best friend in Kindergarten, that she was a fat pig and I'd like to see her with an apple in her mouth) , poor concentration (running around hyperactively from one thing to another and not being able to sit still, etcc...) and combinations of the two (I was in science class in 4th grade, paying attention as best I could , when suddenly without will, I 'switched gears' and found myself whisteling, loudly, the Rolling Stones song 'paint it black'. My teacher told me too cut it out, which I did, but two minutes or so later, I started whisteling again, it was as if I'd forgottwen her instructions. I seriously just started whisteling again without thought! of course, I always got in a lot of trouble smile.gif )

As an adult, my ADD presents itself as my lossing interest in activities and tasks often, sometimes becuase I don 't like them, sometimes because I 'forget' what I was up to, etc...
Needless to say, this makes things difficult.

I also have a history of mental illness (anxiety, Bi-polar) and up till 4 years ago I was a SERIOUS drug abuser (you name it and I heavily abused it and was addicted to it physically and/or mentally),
and I also have a chronic pain condition related to the muscles of my upper back and jaw and knees.

I used to take prescribed amphetamines for the ADD, but stopped two years ago (and tried them again a year ago but stopped again) cause I realized that the side effects FAR outweighed the benefits.
When i was heavily abusing drugs and was seriously manic, depressed/anxious (in part cause of the drugs and booze) I was taking at one time 8 medications at ridiculously high doses. I don't think they did anything for me other than seriosly cloud my thoughts.

As for Meds, the only prescribed one I take now is lamictal twicw a day at the very lowest dose for mood stability.
I've been taking two adaptogens since the new year: arctic root (rhodiola rosea) and a combo called adapt 232, both of extremely high quality (not the crap from GNC etc...)
While my mood has improved considerably since I began taking themm, I found that after a while, my thoughts got clouded again. I also take omega 3 fishoil of high quality. Also codeine for the pain, 15-30 mgs, up to 3 times a day, as needed, but generally 45mgs a day

As such, I've started an experimental regimen:
Vinpocetine= roughly 7.5 mg twice a day
picamilon= 100mg X3 aday
phenylpiracetum= started at 1000 mgs, but found it to be too speedy, so I'm now taking 50mg once a day in the morning,

this is experimental for now, I plan on getting some oxiracetam, paracetum, pramiracetamm or aniracetam in march, and saving the phenylpiracetum so that I take it in a task specific way (ie i've got a big personal or work project) due to the fact that it's soon going to be impossible to purchase in the states (and I haven't figured out how to get it from Russia, yet smile.gif , as well as cost

What are you're thoughts on:
- what I'm currently taking
-my plans to take a different racetam than phenylpramircetam
-which racetam i should try out first
-which racetam is especially good for mental fogginess
-Should I take choline with a racetam, and if so why?

thanks guys, good luck to you all, and wish me some!

Apologies for lack of a response. I'm sure you'd get a better response posting your information in a separate thread from your 'Hello' smile.gif
