Here's a new string for a string-poem, an eleven-foot line, which gives you a lot of room to work around. Â I will propose this line, and then you can reply to this post with the next line, and so on and so on, and we can make poems by the many in this way. Â Let's just see how it goes; you may rhyme or not, use prosody or not, whatever you like. Â The poem will grow before our very eyes, and it should be interesting, and fun. Â It can take twists and turns! Â Someone might add something really strange, and then what do we do with that? Â Which is all part of the process! Â Someone might feel like adding two or three lines. Â Let's just keep it open and see what grows. Â And anyone may start another string at any time; we can have fifty of these things growing, if you would like!
Alright then, I propose this line, and you may continue the poem by posting a reply with the next line, and so on. Â Here is the line:
Never have I been surprised like that before
(Now the rest of the poem is up to the rest of us...)

So far we have this:
Never have I been surprised like that before
It cut me real deep right down to the core
I was so amazed I couldn't catch my breath
looking back i hurt like death
Is this a nightmare from which I just cant wake?
post me a letter so i might know i'm on the take

But what is the nature of this shock I feel?
I must gather myself and the truth reveal

To the shawdow of our faces, kissing til the crack of daylight.

So was what begun in shock and in surprise
But the shade of love reflected in your eyes?

Or did the moon play tricks with light
giving both of us such fright?
