I am delighted to find a site where I can share my interest and questions on cognitive enhancement. I am a 24 y/o male, a student in mechanical engineering, and a soon to be dad. I have adult ADHD and it is extremely difficult for me to focus. Even as I am typing this I find myself wondering off and I need to re-read what I have written. Even if there is nothing around to distract me, my mind still hinders my concentration. I am also very forgetfull. Sometimes I only forget petty things, but at times I completely forget about important deadlines...etc.
I have tried strattera and could not stand it, so my doctor decided to try Zoloft. While it does seem to calm me down, it has not helped my concentration. We have discussed stimulant medications such as adderall and ritalin, but I am not sure about the long term effects.
I only recently discovered nootropics and decided to give them a try. I have been taking aniracetam for about 2 months now (750mg a day). I cant say that I have noticed a big difference, but it does seem somewhat promising. I just finished up the aniracetam and decided to try something different. After a little bit of research, I've decided to try oxiracetam, L-huperzine A, and fish oil.
Anyone have any other recommendations?

I will give you the same response I give to everyone else that asks. Learn to control it yourself. Practice self discipline and learn to control yourself and your mind and you will be fine.

Ok i have spent like 10 minutes trying to find the new post feature in this forum, to no avail. Anyway sorry to hijack your thread, but I am a new guy here as well, this is my first post. After doing a few hours of research, I ordered the following supplements. Here are my intended dosages and dose timings. I know some things are better to split up 3x a day, but for my sanity its easier to just take everything once in the morning and again in the afternoon/evening.
Piracetam 1200mg 2xday
Prop-L-Carn 1g 2xday
ashwagandha 5% 300mg 2xday
I received these supps today, and took one dose of each at the above amount.
Also on its way: Choline Bitartrate (1000g) Beta-Alanine (1000 grams)
What dosages do you think are good for the BA and Choline, in regards to the rest of my supplementation.
Some important background: 5'11" 190lbs (not chubby). 22 years old, on TRT, armour thyroid, wellbutrin, pregnenolone, and dhea. (the wellbutrin isnt for depression).
also as an aside, will the ashwagandah help with my thyroid levels since im hypo? or does the exogenous T3/T4 downregulate my natural production, just like TRT does.
Thank you all.

Also consider taking a close look at your diet and try to avoid foods with preservatives or extra hormones. There seems that there may be a connection to the kinds of foods we are eating and the prevalence of ADD/ADHD in society. Looks like you are figuring out what works in regards to the nootropics and diet changes may also help quite a bit. Eat organic as much as you can. Fresh vegetables and fish are excellent sources of nutrients for the brain.
I would also recommend meditation exercises to help slow your mind down and develop single point concentration for extended periods of time.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I have been trying to improve my diet. I feel that this has a lot of potential to help. I really dont have time for a workout regimen, but I am very active....so much so that it annoys my wife quite often.
Controlling it myself has proved to be a very difficult task. Im hoping to find something to help me control it, and one day wish to be able to control it myself.
Believe me, taking medication & supplements has been my last resort. This has been a problem since early childhood, and it has escalated during my 20's.

Pyritinol and Deprenyl would be worth looking into.

I think I explained myself properly, was apologetic, and am new here. Discordia I really dont think its very helpful for you to just be a jerk, especially to someone who was polite and sorry for threadcrapping such as me. What would be constructive is telling me kindly how to start my own thread. And god forbid say welcome to the forum, or answer my question. If anyone can help me figure out how to create my own thread, thanks in advance. To anybody who can help answer my posts questions, thanks again.
Take care.
UPDATE: I figured out how to post a new topic, for some reason yesterday my browser wasn't loading the NEWTOPIC button on the forum page. I will not post in this thread again.

Should I worry about Deprenyl causing a false positive on a drug screen? I am a student intern at BMW mfg and my job requires a urine AND hair drug screens.
