I wanted to start this topic to discuss the importance of the Feather as a symbol, and some of the uses of feathers in modern and ancient society:

An overwhelming majority of tribes from all reaches of the globe use feathers in their clothing.

The heart was weighed against the Feather of Ma'at (Truth) in Egyptian judgement scenes.

The first major writing implement was a quill, it was used by literate priests to write what they perceived as the Truth.

A dreaming archetype - many people have dreamt of flying, too significant an amount to ignore.

Quetzacoatl, the feathered serpent of ancient Central American cultures.

Archery, the symbolism of the target and the use of feathers in the arrows.

The psychology around our curiosity, is this our search for the truth? Is it divinely inspired?

Thats cool fp, but what significance does sulfur and mercury have? Mercury was called quicksilver, 'quick' meaning alive when the word was created. You believe the feather is related to consciousness, enlightenment or just showing an example of use?

I'll detail why I've used archery as an example of use and try and provoke some dialog smile.gif

Archery
=====

The ancient symbol for God was a circle with a point in the centre
http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/26/268.html

An archer demonstrating his mastery over the elements and space, fires a feathered arrow (truth) toward the symbol for God (target). The closer he gets to the centre, to more mastery he obtains (score).

Isn't this significant when you take into account the feather as a writing implement in which priests and their scribes wrote down the truth?

As a sidenote, my daughter was a nightmare for picking up old dirty feathers from crows and the like. Has anyone else noticed this in children?
Hudzon
I did that as a child. A lot.

If you're concerned, give her good feathers, but don't tell her to quit the habit wink.gif

I remember trying to build a device similar to the wings of Icarus from privet hedge bushes. I managed to slow my descent from a four foot wall by..ooh..0.01 second. What a success lol.

I can't get away with that video fp, its the monotonous tones and lack of any real evidence that just grates on me. Do you want to elaborate on the topic and how it relates to your own ideas, because you seem to be posting images etc. without any.

This was not the most convincing video smile.gif I get the concept, but it just sounded like it was coming from a rambling man like myself, with nothing more than speculation. But who really knows it may be validated in the future, just like some of my crazy ideas~

It is an idea, that is all... it is not like all truth has concrete scientific evidence. You don't have to believe, just consider it a possibility.

And yes I think the feather many times symbolizes transcendental consciousness.

Some would say this is new age, some would say it is old age.

But there is no harm in considering the possibilities and listening with the heart rather than the mind.

Have you ever seen somebody channel? It is truly breath taking when one's personality completely changes and such information streams through them like they never knew it. Especially when you have known the person your whole life.
