Nodas
Hello there, brain-meta users wink.gif
I'm Nodas from Greece and I'm nearly 24 years old. Last years I've been studying mathematics in the University of Athens,
and finally got my degree last September('07). I'm very much interested in almost all the topics in this forum and especially whatever
has to do with math, neuroscience, biology, cryonics and astronomy/astrophysics. I like chess and experimental/avant-garde music of all genres.
I'm an avid atheist (Nietzsche/Dawkins influences..) and been writing in a couple of science forums for quite a while.
Brain-meta grabbed my attention after some google search, recenctly read some articles, liked the whole thematic structure of it, so here I am! smile.gif
I long for some brand new debates, cheers all!

Hope to see you around the forums.

Thanks for the welcoming guys, I really appreciate it.

Mr lucid_dream nice avatar btw.
Is that a hyperspace's 2D projection or sth?
Don't know but your nickname reminds me of the movies
Abre los ohos and Vanillia sky. And a bit of the Matrix trilogy wink.gif
Cheers again.

yes, it's what a lattice would look like in hyperbolic 3D space. The name relates to my experiences with lucid dreaming. And welcome again!

No prob!
Hm well, just asking.. was your lucid dream drug induced ( e.g. LSD or sth) ?
Can I achieve it with natural ways, during my R.E.M. dreaming phase?
I never had a lucid dream before so tha's why I'm asking. smile.gif
lucid_dream

my lucid dreaming was not drug induced, and I'm not sure how to produce them. I have noticed, though, that they occur frequently during particularly 'intense' periods of my life, usually when I'm doing many things and am under a lot of pressure.

Hi Nodas, glad to see your interested in the different states of conciousness. There are a lot of sites that can help you train to lucid dream. There are plant supplements also, not recreational drugs though. I've not heard of anyone getting a benefit out of using LSD to enhance lucid dreaming, I think LSD is an experience all by itself and shouldn't be taken lightly! lol.

Do you smoke at all? Because if so then quit! lol. But in the meantime those patches work wonders to get a feel of what its like, but bare in mind that many people suffer nightmares from them. Please don't use them at all if you don't smoke, and don't use them if you don't plan to stop smoking while you try an experiment, that is very dangerous.

Alternatively you can ask around for supplements that increase lucid dreaming, or learn about techniques you can practise. I find I lucid dream when I'm not under pressure, some find the opposite. Search the forum for lucid dreaming and you will surely get some answers!

Bon Voyage!
Nodas
Thanks a lot for the info trojan_libido.
Well, last years I smoked occasionally, but the last year I decided to quit it permanently because firstly I seriously started to care about my lungs' future health, since lung is an organ that as far as I know, can't be transplanted anyhow and secondly I didn't like the cigarettes aftersmell.
Can you name any supplement/substance (natural) that can enhance the possibilities of a probable lucid dream? Thanks in advance.
Wafa..
welcome nodas smile.gif)

Nodas, browsing, I just happened to come your comments above, from your first post. You write about your interest in mathematics and in debating beliefs. It inspires me to ask: What is an avid atheist? If you love debates--BTW, My preference is dialogue.--how come you have not posted anything in the posts about theology--panentheism/unitheism and the like?

BTW, you may be interested in knowing that panentheism/unitheism (See Wikipedia about these two words) does NOT think of the "ground of all being"--what I call GØD, or G?D--as a him/her, or even as a limitless being.

IMO, the ONE creative power--referred to in my signature--is ever an ever expanding and improving one--not yet complete. As a person, I have the choice of being a part of this, or of rejecting this; but, like Rene Descartes (a mathematician), in no way can I deny that I am, and that I live within Creativity--Nature, Existence, All-that-is, whatever.

IMO, the great mathematician, Alfred North Whitehead (process theologian and philosopher, worth a google), was a panentheist/unitheist
