Hudzon
Hey,

I'm Hudzon and my interests lie in anything scientific and futuristic. I am heavily interested in human enhancement, BMIs, cybernetics and human gene therapies. I am also an immortalist and because of that I am very keen on ideas about radically improving society.

Currently I am researching the brain`s pleasure centers and new (at least to me) ways of stimulating them.
You'll probably see more of my posts and questions on the matter as time goes on and my research advances, and any comments and suggestions are welcome.

I also like tea with muffins.

Chemical/electrical/TMS???
Which areas are you focusing on? NAcc shell? Or the whole mesolimbic area?

welcome Hudzon! I'm curious about your views over hedonism and whether you think pleasure is the sole good we should maximize (as some people here have argued).

Intra Cranial Electrical stimulation.

Currently I am still looking at all possible pleasure centres, trying to identify the ones that are the most responsive to stimulation and produce the strongest feelings. Being easily accessible is also a plus.
Once I find the area that fits my specifications I will concentrate on it in more detail.

You'd be surprized, but I haven't adopted that philosophy myself. I believe that we become stronger as individuals by overcoming psychological suffering, and simply "abolishing" it won't do anyone much good in the long run.

I also think that there's more to life than just pleasure, or any other "sole good". And while I can't really say what that "more" is, I just have a gut feeling that it is there nonetheless.

In the end, while I will not stop anyone if they wish to put an implant in their head and become permanently "happy", I have no desire to undergo such a procedure myself.

Indeed; I will look forward to the humble discussions on kings and cabbages. And Neuroscience.
Especially neuroscience.

Mmm, you make my mouth water!
Now I just wish there was more stuff in my food reserves than outdated tea packets.

Interesting. So are all theists immortalists, but in a new dimension. They also want to improve society. Are you a theist. If not, why not?
