I recently bought a laptop, and an interent router. I tried to hook up the router to my DSL interent, I went through the step by step guide that it came with and somehow I messed it up. We had to complelty set up the interent again, and now i'm scared to try the router again. I wanted to know if there was any tips, or if anyone knew of anyone NEAR GLENOMA that could come out and do it for me!!! HELP!!

Setting up routers is always a pain, you should be prepared to spend a good half a day trying to get it work. Go back over the instructions, re-read them over and over again, then if that doesnt work call customer service. Different routers have different specifications and manufacturer's. Your best bet is to just try again and if you have a specific problem, call customer service.

A router should NEVER talk a half day to set up, 15 minutes max. All you do is run a cable from the router to the modem. If you are an end user put the cd in and follow the instructions. The EASY way to do it is to do an IPCONFIG /ALL and find your default gateway, then navigate to that address in a browser. The router should come with instructions that should have the default username and password in the router, from that point you can make any changes you need.

Atleast give us the type of router you are setting up? Normally, its very easy to setup a router. It automatically detects the settings for your internet connection.

1. Connect the internet cable to the router.
2. connect the network cable from your PC to the router and thats it.
3. Most ISP will take you to their portal to sign in and then you can surf the internet.
