Flex
I believe this is the first poem I have ever written (aside from a haiku or two in highschool) so I apologize if it seems a bit amaturish. Let me know what you think~

In My Eyes

I know a place
Where Freedom isn't free
Where business names the rules
And claims Democracy

I know this land of Freedom
Where Justice isn't just
Where people move as sheep
Guided by fear and lust

I know this home of Justice
Where civilization isn't Civil
Where comfort lay in lies
And people register to kill

I live in a country
Where Freedom isn't free
Where Justice isn't just
Thats America to me.

Some definitions to keep in mind...

Freedom: the condition of being free; the power to act or speak or think without externally imposed restraints

Just: guided by truth, reason, and fairness

Civil: respectful, deferential, gracious, complaisant, suave, affable, urbane, courtly.

Lay: prepare or position for action or operation

I like it very much, Flex, both poetically and philosophically.

I quite agree.

Respect and solidarity,

+Stevie
