Hi ant_9652,

Self Esteem is, having confidence about ourself. Only by eliminating the negative self talk we can build our self esteem.

Usually a distinction is made between self-esteem and confidence. Confidence is the belief that undertakings will be carried out succesfully. Self-esteem is the belief in one's worth, regardless of accomplishment.

I can see other peoples confidence and self esteem but I cannot measure my own other than theres not much of it. I have borderline personality disorder and I see my self esteem and confidence as practically non existant. I find I put myself across as confident but inside im the complete opposite, self esteem for me is a tough one as with my mental condition I always make myself feel unworthy and its the disorder that does that even though I know I have as much right to things as other people and that I have achieved some great things in my life . I find if I achieve something and do well I feel good and pat myself on the back but the next day I am back to feeling low confidence and esteem. As Anagha said it is the negative self talking that is the obstacle for having these two qualities build. I find it hard not to notice negative thinking process as its been built into my thought process for so many years so its hard to distinguish between being the real me and my border line personality thought processes, what other people can do naturally without thinking is know thier feeling of self worth and the ability to balance thier thinking and evaluate things from a balanced perception. I thought you might like to see how self esteem and confidence is seen through my eyes.
