I am a medical student, still in the fifth year out of seven here in Egypt.
I had much interest in neuroscience since the Physiology of the CNS course in the second year.
I just was not satisfied by what we have been educated about neuroscience, so istarted reading, but actually I have nothing more to do except reading, that science is not of great interest here, maybe due to lack of resources but I think there is more.
I read papers and some textbooks, but thats all my sources for me, even teaching is not that accessible to me.
I think there is more than just reading which is essential for completing my study, but I just know nothing about how even to search for it.
What I am asking about, How did you study neuroscience? Where, how, what are the steps, what do you recommend to study and if any scholarships etc.

try to get into a neuroscience lab, as a grad student, postdoc, or research fellow, in a different country, like the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, Spain, or Australia, where you'll learn techniques for doing neuroscience in a lab.
I would recommend trying to get into a neuroscience lab to do neuroscience, but should note that it's not absolutely essential to "do" neuroscience in order to contribute to the field, as there have been people who have contributed conceptually to neuroscience by sitting around and doing a lot of thinking about experimental results and theories to reconcile and explain them. Also, if you have a computer, then you're in a position to run neuronal simulations and actually do computational neuroscience. Yes, you may be at a disadvantage compared to some other people with experimental resources or with more computational resources, but you'll be in the game and in a position to contribute to and advance the field.

really thank you Lucid, but do you know any specific programs or scholarships educating this..famous ones or sort of.
I really would like to learn about lab issues, even if I will not work so, to know how things are going you know.
I already started to look more seriously to computational neuroscience, but still at the very beginning.

there is a very informative publication from Howard Hughes Medical Institute called "Making the Right Moves". You can download it here:
