Palaver. Interesting name. How do you relate to this term?

According to World Book Dictionary, a palaver is a parley or conference, especially between traders or travelers and uncivilized natives whose customs require the formal exchange of compliments gifts, etc., before bringing up any matter of business. It can also mean unecessary or idle words; mere talk.

How are you using the term?

In any case, welcome. By the way, meanwhile, don't forget to check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneuma
It is about that which is beyond soma and psyche.

Hey Hey

I learned this word while studying for the SAT in high school haha. Nerdy, I know, but then again I am a nerd. This is the first time I encountered anyone who knows that word or bothered to look it up. Perhaps it hints that this site is full of clever people, which I like smile.gif I thought the word was perfect for online talking since its definition encompasses probably 90% of the cases I come across.

Welcome Palaver,

..it's a word I have not come across for quite some time!

Defs:-
Noun: palaver
1. Flattery intended to persuade
2. Loud and confused and empty talk

Verb: palaver
1. Speak (about unimportant matters) rapidly and incessantly
2. Influence or urge by gentle urging, caressing, or flattering
3. Have a lengthy discussion, usually between people of different backgrounds

Don't do yourself down by presuming that only clever folk 'talk' here.

What an interesting way to put it. Reminds me a bit of a John Wayne movie reference to expectations of living forever.
