Almost at the end now, everything was falling into place. The planet was at last becoming what everyone had hoped for : united. The dreams of all ancestors were now almost a reality. What generations had fought and died for was at last arriving, but not exactly as they had planned. Instead of a singular faith dominating the inhabitants, this planet had adopted a new approach, one of omni-religious respect.
Gone was the old hatred between the races, along with all former power hungry individual nations and coalitions. As the final preparations were being made, in readiness for the united future, in the midst of global celebrations, a wave of reflection swept over the gathering.
It had taken two full generations to complete this historic event. In the years of the first generation, it was thought the turmoil to every nation would overwhelm them, casting all into civil unrest. It became avoided due to the restrictiveness of their new founded freedoms. What previous generations had only dared dream of had happened almost overnight. If it wasn’t for the fact every nation was facing the same problems of identifying themselves, thus enabling them all to work together, then it would have almost certainly ended in global war and the end of civilization as they knew it.
Just prior to the change, the planet was on the brink of self-destruction. Not only were nations fighting each other and within their own borders, but they were tearing up the fragile ecological systems around them. Pollution and deforestation were considered a natural progression and a political minefield, only to be discussed just prior to general elections and put on the political back burner as soon as they were over. It was to be tackled by the next generations who would not be able to ignore the effects these processes were having upon all forms of life. It was deemed by most nations that the only way for the planet to become united would be if the entire planet faced extinction from an external source, forcing old adversaries to halt all hostilities to help combat a mutual fate. How surprised they were when the reality of the global situation struck home. The threat to all was a domestic one : themselves.
Fear of the unknown was a major problem to overcome for the individual nations. Never in their collective histories had they had to work together on such a scale. There had always been reasons for hatred to exist. Libraries were literally full of reason why nations were fighting their neighbours. The younger generations, who did not actually experience hatred through warfare, were as soon as they could understand speech, taught to hate someone else, even if they had never met them before. The fact they did not come from the same geographical location was reason enough to inspire hatred, and with the addition of aesthetical differences, reasons became even more grounded. So with this as the next generation’s foundation, former hatred was guaranteed to pass smoothly across generation gaps, as easily as their own cultural heritage.
In the beginning of the change process, the main opposition came of course from the establishments and older generations, so set in their ways. There was no way any change on this scale was going to become a reality at the cost of face to them and what they had always stood for. Their idea of forgiveness belonged to the realm of existence after they had departed from their physical life, not while they were alive. This of course became swept into insignificance when it hit home that no-one single generation living at the time of the change could be held responsible for the collective state of global affairs, or the collective histories of the past. They could not be blamed. They realised when blame is shared it becomes lessened, so when it became shared by every single nation and every single adult alive at the time of the change, it became the nothingness it was required to become so a path forward to a united future could begin.
It seemed the only way to appease the establishments was to appeal to their need for existence, but without threatening them, as was the standard procedure used throughout history. They were after all only people. Given the choice between carrying on in a futile struggle for existence battling each other, or the chance of being the leaders of their respective nations be they religious or politically based, at this the most prolific event in peoples recorded history, they all chose to be part of a solution.
The arguments of the older generations centred mainly upon the grief they had endured within their own lifetimes and those of their immediate ancestors. They could not forgive their personal loses at the hands of their old cultural enemies. The global change accepted at the establishment level gave them all pause for thought.
If they could not forgive their former enemies, they would have to learn to forgive themselves for being the reason old hatred that ruined their childhood was the same hatred ruining the lives of their grandchildren.
The change, based upon respect, started within the family, as it had always been, struck a chord with them. As they began to get used to the change, a new respect was founded between the generations. The old and infirm were no longer destined to institutions, they became as revered as their old ancestors always were. The lessons it had taken them a lifetime to learn were once again being given to their offspring, ensuring the old values and cultures were allowed to flourish.
Another stumbling block to be solved was the amount of corruption throughout the world. History had given birth to this element of society, and as with other negative traits, it affected large portions of the global population. It was accepted that it was impossible to slow down never mind trying to eradicate it, but yet again with all establishments and elders accepting the change positively on a global scale, even these people could see the detrimental effect they were having if they tried to continue to exist. They were after all only a very small and easily eradicable element when seen on a global spectrum, billions of peoples were not about to have their chance of a future put into jeopardy. Notoriety for fear-inducement of others was no longer venerated by the media and film industries. It became into its own as the social cancer it has always been, spawning nothing but civil and social unrest. This led to the eradication of corruption throughout all governing bodies and law-enforcement agencies.
The practicalities of such a global change were daunting to say the least, but as time went on and an entire global population witnessed the global change becoming the reality they needed, it became apparent a flexible timetable for the entire process was needed. Some nations better suited to the change, helped those nations struggling and so bonds between these normally formidable enemies began the healing process.
One stage to be completed before any other was to give the entire world’s population the chance to move freely to the nation of their own choice. Understanding it would be in that nation, they would freely become an active member of its society, to help build or re-build its social infrastructure. Only after this period did each nation know just how many people they would govern. This led to the repatriation of peoples displaced through conflict, now united with their loved ones, knowing full well they became an integral part of a society and not a social outcast due to prior religious or political beliefs. Leading to the global understanding of a person’s unique worth as an individual and as a nation within a global spectrum.
Never again would materials or minerals ever attain more worth than that of a person.
Children all over the world were taught, the only differences between nations were geographical placement and environment. They were also taught that all children irrespective of gender are equals. Banished were the old ideologies that one gender had more worth than the other, thus possibly the single most horrific mistake of the past was rectified. There were still differences between the affluences of families, some having more than others : a need for a society to exist, but for the first time in recorded history these differences were lessened. All according to an individual nation’s evaluation of their own economic situation and conforming to a global standard, poverty and slavery of children became outlawed.
At the same time as the mobilisation of the global population, the largest single military manoeuvre took place. Throughout history all military actions were based upon a win-capitulate basis. One side admitted defeat and the other side were allowed to be victorious. It became fact that victories were hollow and fleeting at best, as within a short period of time, violence would escalate again. Even after two global conflicts, wars still raged all over the planet. This time around though all branches of the military tactically retreated and won. With all members of the armed forces returning home without the loss of a single life it was considered a global victory. It stopped all forms of terrorism / freedom fighting as not one of those single cells of people had the need to threaten a foreign nation, and all of them had a need to return home to start being an active member of their own society, re-building what they had lost through conflict.
With everybody equally victorious and the need for inter-nation war receded, the defence budgets of all nations were drastically reduced. It became clear that the need for a defensive force still remained, and it quickly became apparent within that force they had the necessary manpower and capabilities needed as defensive measures against natural catastrophes.
Armed forces became an integral part of civilian life. Naval vessels to aid the impoverished lifeboat institutions along with their Air-Arm helicopters and jets for observation and rescue. Submariners when not on manoeuvres were integrated into the scientific communities in the exploration of the oceanic areas of the globe, thus promoting the understanding of the largest arena on the planet.
Becoming a member of the armed forces then began to lose its stigma as a housing of society’s undesirables and became a honourable pursuit for people who believe in the defence of their own nation and planet in case of external threat. History had taught them to always be prepared for anything and so their mutual defence became their mutual interest. Manoeuvres between nations still continued as a matter of national pride, and war-gaming became a true art form. Never again were they ever to be defenceless. The knowledge gathered by sharing technologies led to the advent of space exploration hitherto unseen drawing upon the scientific community and their nuclear capabilities.
One of the first truly international co-operations between all the armed forces, spearheaded by their own generals was the removal of all unexploded ordnance from the face of the planet. It did not take long for this feat to be accomplished, the planet literally became a safer place for all children and so faith in the armed forces was restored. Territorial/National services in all nations were abolished. A professional armed force was considered to be advantageous to all. With this as a global standard all nations became capable of more than national defence, and so in the first part of the second generation, global rescue forces were formed. Their priorities were aid and assist any area that suffered a disaster. Their aim to be in-situ within the first twenty-four hours after disaster strikes, ensuring no peoples would suffer as they had done in the past. The forces comprised of all the arms, land, sea and air. Engineers with earth moving equipment and bridge building capabilities, convoys of transportation and helicopters carrying all the foods, medical supplies, medical staff, interpreters, shelters, water and power supplies needed.
All nations adopted and implemented universal health-care, and after each nation had become unique with their own new culture, it became standard that taking care of visiting nationals was the same as taking care of their own.
The nations, who were not as industrialised as others, turned to the resource they had in abundance : the exploration of their natural habitats and wildlife. Study of wildlife became available to all nations and all zoological facilities changed policies. They were allowed to contain indigenous species, which led to the closure of many a cruel establishment, but rather than lose this resource they became centres for the breeding and restoration of endangered species. There was no reason to have species foreign to their own shores as travelling to the creature’s native country was no longer restrictive. This enabled endangered species to once again flourish in their native environments and studied in-situ, thus a more correct understanding of their behaviour became apparent and available to the entire world’s population.
Nations that could not boast of a rich and diverse flora and fauna theatre, but consisted of vast areas of plains, forests or deserts, took a different approach. For these nations their greatest resource was that of survival in these inhospitable arenas. Teaching those who ventured into their borders the exact same knowledge passed down for countless generations of their ancestors who conquered and survived there for millennia. Ensuring through practical endeavour that even in an advanced understanding of a global situation there is no substitute for the knowledge gathered by those first true pioneers.
Within two generations the emphasis of peoples changed from individuals striving blindly for fortune and fame as the world passes them by, to an appreciation and respect of all forms of life. More importantly though, to be able to give their children for the first time ever, a future with them all as an integral part. It was what every mother and father had wished for their children since time in memorial. It came freely to a global population ill prepared an ill equipped to receive it. A population so steeped in the need for conflict to sort out their problems, the very idea of it at first repulsed them. For them it seemed as if they would lose their identities, it wasn’t until they realised for the first time in a long time they all had the opportunity to redefine themselves exactly as they wished to be remembered for the rest of time. It took a collective leap of faiths to procure the chance. Single nations went from dominating policies to fair-trade and fair-values policies without compromising their unique identities.
Another major change of values that had nothing to do with material worth was of course the spiritual values of individuals and nations alike. Many nations had lost their own identities and became centres for religion. These nations had always been centres of dispute and unrest. The very opposite of what their religious belief had taught them to be. With the change to an omni-religious respect and tolerance within a global society, they were more reluctant than most to radical change and instead of reverting to previous behaviour of eradication, a different type of reverting took place. Like their military counterparts they allowed a tactical retreat within themselves.
As the foundational values of all religious belief was similar it didn’t take the world’s population long to understand that it did not matter which form of spiritual belief they followed, as long as they believed in it freely and whole-heartedly. Faith had always been a very personal matter and this was never to change.
Gone was the decadence of the past and shared equally amongst their followers, because of this, all faith centres survived and became exactly what they were meant to be, education centres for peoples who freely chose to help others. Just because the world’s view had changed somewhat, there was always going to be a need for spiritual guidance and places where peoples grief could find solace and understanding, so who better than the few who through their self-sacrifice became spiritually aware to aid them in their times of need.
A consequence of this action led to the re-establishment of all the religious festivals and their parabolic symbolism. All the houses of faith around the world became focal points of the communities. Gathering places for all in need, and a locus for the celebration of principles in their teachings. Beacons of light re-established along with the scriptures teaching children of all ages.
The greatest achievement within the religious movement of the world was the fact; no religion would ever be forgotten.
All faith became equal.
Differences became celebrated and not condemned. Another understanding became clear, faith and politics were two separate entities within a societal infrastructure, so it came to be that the two would never share the same arena again. Previous faiths that had been destroyed in earlier conquests were allowed to re-surface as the indigenous peoples fought to redefine their ancient culture. Ancient languages and cultures became integrated into modern society adding to the global diversity and thus the global beauty of all of the peoples.
No-one and nobody lost, every one and everyone had won.
It took some time for everyone to understand that in doing so they progressed; truly, because of this the inhabitants became physically ready to take the next step of united understanding as a profound evolutionary progression. To be able to take a spiritual step forward they had to be ready for it. Divided they would never be able to take this step; only in unity did they ever have a chance. History has proven taking a spiritual step forward in a small geographical area took a very long time never mind globally, so a way was devised to reduce this time-scale. They used simplicity.
The simple answer was to be completely honest with each other. It was the foundation of all they thought to be honest, goodly and true anyway. The truth could hurt, they all had their faults, nobody was perfect but everyone could be. A people united always progressed, so peoples united made good, honest sense.
The cornerstones of all peoples became the foundation they all could progress from, towards a common evolutionary spiritual path.
With a spiritual bond holding them all together they would be able to advance. It was the same spiritual bond holding them together as it has always been, but were not allowed to acknowledge : Love : Respect :
Love, conquers because of the bond developed between two. It stood at the basis of everything they knew to be good, honest and true. So how could it be wrong? For the first time it was logical to become spiritual, whereas before it took a different type of leap. The logical need for love did not become its sum parts.
Love was there at first to guide them and love became the reason for them to carry on. LOVE ²
It took respect to break down all of the barriers and respect to re-build them again. RESPECT ²
Love comes freely and naturally to everybody; all ideals came with a price, their lives. Love kept them all alive, with united love and respect. It became time for them to advance. It wasn’t to be taken lightly for any nation to find out who they really were. It became apparent they all had far more similarities than differences in their own lives. This struck another bond between peoples that could not easily be denied. They were all spiritually connected, just in different ways. Their spirituality was something that all peoples could identify with and understand. So allowing themselves to grow up together meant the growing pains subsided significantly.
Ethically lethal and legal in all faiths, a balance was found
Progression without pain and sacrifice was what they needed to teach them a lesson. Love gave them all this choice, yet, not everyone was sure of what love entailed as it remained the greatest mystery in life, therefore something to strive for. It had always been a noble cause to search and find love. Everyone knew love founded them all and found them all. It was a truth they all could believe in. A principle worth living for and dying for. By acting as one when they all stood united they equalled a truth.
Spirituality could only become through a combination
ALL ²
All nations freely chose to become all nations,
Not one nation more than another.
EQUALITY ¹ FREEDOM ¹
With everyone facing freedom, they found it easier to take the steps together. Each nation turned a common page in their history, a page not yet written. To be written in their new found language and cultural ways. Faithful to themselves and to others it became the best of all worlds and not just both of them. The beginning of their paths towards a better understanding of life, each their own way and never one way, pride became restored in the pillars of their respective faiths. It became easier to see ways forward that did not demand the sacrifice of people or their beliefs.
Nothing lost and everything gained on a sound moral reason
It proved more than one thing, was true to them all.
LOGIC ²
They all found their common ground, theirs and their own. In searching for a single hero, they all found it within themselves, everyone became the hero they needed, and it took a world full of heroes for it to happen. Only they could make it come into being and they trusted it to be logically sound.
Everything began to change, everyone celebrating each other and themselves, made drastic changes in their behaviour, so it went on. New celebrations of all the old celebrations, a wish of their own to come true. For themselves, between themselves, by themselves.
Allowing individualism to arise twice within one person, one unique to self and one unique to others, giving meaning to the duality of people. Their journey could start at the beginning of something that they needed more than they initially wanted, then wanted more than they would finally need. Everything they needed and wanted then became the natural choice. Only they knew what they needed so who better to ask? By helping themselves to their selves, proving their pride in what they believe to be true, could be present again in their everyday life. Based on solid foundations of belief in their selves and their self.
SELF ²
“The rights of all” became the global standard from which all nations built their futures, their common futures and the futures of all life on the planet. Fear built upon the respect of freedom to balance the love and respect and the endless possibilities in the nearest of futures. Believing in one thing and many things, giving self a reason to behold as true, giving selves reason to behold as true.
Life founded on their futures, based upon the truths of their faith
LIFE ²
Always, all ways for all days, gives all tomorrows back to yesterdays where they originated.
It only happened on the planet because people wanted to change and believe in a truth. The future became reason enough to want to live life again. Everybody and everyone remembered. The only fair start for all nations, so the only course to be taken by a population who wanted to believe their faith meant something.
This of course was just the beginning of the beginning of mutual respect for all life on the planet, as the celebrations were about to get underway the first projects for the rights of animals were being penned, along with the reforestation of the planets surface, the rebalancing of the atmospherics and de-pollution of the waters. Another story for another time.
ALL DONE FOR ONE SIMPLE LOGICAL REASON :
FOR THE SAKE OF ALL CHILDREN
NOW ASK YOURSELF ONE QUESTION :
COULD YOU ?
