Why We Wander

Some say sublimation is evolution
As solitary souls make restitution
Anonymously or nearly so like me
For the familial happiness of all
That the human family advance nor fall
For want of such sublime singlemindedness
Of single sublimators like me I guess

Some say this is a pretty good way to be
Alone but not lonely in the company
Of some quixotic quest if though on Skid Row
Above people make love while we work below
Their window for the good of humanity
Out here on the street where sublimators beat
Our heads against the brick walls of convention

We do not do this merely for attention
But to advance the dance of the family
